You have to buy photoshop, learn how to use it, then download a template and just star making cool desgins

For simpler graphics it's also possible to do it with GIMP. But I'm still pretty much a total noob at skinning.

There is no easy way to skin. If you want it to be easy there is no way anything will turn out good. Get photoshop, watch tutorials, learn to use the program, and just trial and error on templates.

They easy way of skinning is to use a template. Doesnt get any easier, the norms shading etc is the hard stuff and its already done for you.
It wont get any easier so put a bit of effort in.
