head tracking
im sure this has came up before, but JLV have you ever thought about sim able to use say trackIR or oculus rift?
TrackIR is like 150-200$ and oculus rift is about 300 for the dev kit.
I think it would be a nice touch to be able to look to your side to see whos next to you, just add the extra "realism" to sim.

I Agree!! also on their site they have a dev section and sample code,
and heres some quotes from their dev section!
"Our "TrackIR Enhanced Mode" SDK includes code samples which make implementation a snap. We also include thorough documentation, and attentive developer technical support"
"Programming with the TrackIR Enhanced SDK is ULTRA EASY.
I wrote a program that retrieved axis inputs from the TrackIR driver within 30 MINUTES of receiving the SDK from NaturalPoint.
2 or 3 steps to initialize, 1 step to get inputs information from the device.
A lot easier than programming with DirectInput mice."

I think this idea is great. But then the people who can't afford those expensive pieces of equipment or don't want them are put at a disadvantage in my opinion.

Re: head tracking
Seriously? That's a pretty terrible reason for not having sim support track ir. I don't wanna get political but that sounds like something a crying lib would say. I don't want you to have the stuff you work for because some people can't afford it and it's not fair that you can.BraapBraap wrote:I think this idea is great. Re: head tracking
mapping it to the D pad would be better then everyone going to spend $200-300 just so they can look left & right

Re: head tracking
I think I've said this in the past, but I believe if he implemented some controlled head movement (via some control button), trackIR or other VR stuff could be set up as a control (depending on how drivers work, kinda like key2joy or something). At least with trackIR, it seems like that is just a control type input.

Re: head tracking
Oculus rift with this game would be ridiculous. Imagine laying a huge whip and looking over at your rear fender in a virtual world.

Re: head tracking
I think most people underestimate the amount they move their head when riding, I sometimes catch myself leaning into whips and stuff. Would have some undesirable effects when using track IR.

Re: head tracking
i think the idea is pretty decent and it would make sim a fair more realistic and for the people who can afford trackir, there could be some mapping for right stick or d pad so its kinda good for everyone

Re: head tracking
how is 150$-300$ to expensive? I see people buying 300-400$ wheel setups for simraces....
heck TrackIR is only 150$ thats maybe 1 days worth of pay on a very good day or 2 days at least.
