1st person cam is fine the way it is imo but it would be very helpful if it were possible to look to our left & right. Being able to take a quick peak to check your inside coming into bowl corners in sx would be so sick. Being able to check your inside off the start as well.

Set it up so when you press the key/button the camera starts to pan to the left/right until about 2 or 3 o'clock. Also make the camera pan back to the original position as soon as you release the button so you have full control of how far you want to look over for specific situations.

Maybe even have the option to customize how quickly the camera pans as well like a slider for "camera pan speed"

Idk just throwing ideas out there.

What I really want to do is move the camera positioning code to javascript so it can be fully customized. It needs to be a separate context from the gameplay script though.

So I really didn't want to hard code this and instead make something scriptable which could be infinitely customized by the user. But realistically it's going to be a while until I have a UI scripting system in place. Since this seems important to a lot of people I think I'll just hard code it now.

You guys want it to lock the camera Y axis to the world Y axis right? Meaning that the camera just yaws around without any pitch or roll.

I figure I'll solve the gimbal lock problem by interpolating between the rider Y axis and world Y axis, using 100% world axis when the rider's Y is vertical and 100% rider Y axis then the rider is horizontal.

Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

Speaking of submission holds... could you also implement changeable font size in "Dabbing!"?

You're the only one who asked for that!

Also, thinking a little more about what I said about gimbal lock with the world Y aligned camera and I don't think my plan would actually work well. I'm thinking it wouldn't look good when you lean way over and the camera rolls as it goes horizonal.

I think the idea is to keep the current gimbal system for the up and down axis and then just make a first person option where we can lock camera to lean angle of bike (current system) or unlock the camera from the bikes roll axis and basically just keep the screen perfectly level (no roll) and let the bike roll underneath the camera.

I figure it'd be best if it could blend between the two settings so you don't have to lose all feel for how you're leaning. It'll be really hard to feel the bike with the Y axis completely locked to global Y.

Yeah I definitely want a slider instead of on/off. Just need to think about how it'll behave in the edge cases like when you're upside down.

I think with practice it won't be as hard as it seems to ride with the camera locked to the world Y axis. If this is possible, I'd say have a setting that you click that changes from "Locked to Bike" like we have now. Then "Locked to world Y axis" and then last but not least Dynamic. Make the Dynamic setting unlock a slider that allows you to adjust what angle you want your camera to lock at. In other words, you can choose what angle you'd like your camera to stop rolling with the bike. Also, it might help if you could make a setting that hides just the riders head/helmet & torso. That way we would have more room to work with without visibility getting obstructed and hopefully open up the possibility of having one more slider that adjusts where the camera sits (Forward/Backward) when the rider is neutral.

It doesn't draw the helmet in first person. It does use a separate first person rider model if available.

First off, I think seperate First & Third Person FOV controls would be a massive improvement at the moment? The two modes lend themselves to pretty opposite FOV's, for example I run ~80 on TPV and ~120 on FPV, and so players are forced to stick to one or the other. Maybe its a lot of work and people mostly stick to one or the other anyway...

Regarding the script, yaw, pitch, and roll, i think are all necessary for a great FPV.

Yaw for looking ahead through corners as you lean i.e. turning your head toward the apex). Maybe a consideration of airborne or not so that it can also look over the bike as you whip.
Pitch for when bars are pulled in, staying level over whoops, looking flat up jumps or at modulated like a gradual look-up that full adjusts on hills but doesn't have time to fully adjust on jumps.
Roll for the leaning-level slider as discussed above.

Additionally, dampening on the y axis would be amazing for things like bumps; the gimbal does this already right? I don't know exactly how that works.

Spitballing inputs for the script:
- interia & rotation
- Along X, Y & Z axis'
- Seperately measured for bike and rider head
- Maybe even bike movement taken as two measurements, front wheel center and rear center hub seperate
- Bar angle as well?
- Also controller inputs?
- sliders of net effect for each input on each axis, via effect amount or y axis/bike value comparison, maybe even a sub sub weighting system between inputs on the same axis

Should it look where the bike is pointed or where it's going? I.e. if it's sliding should it look into the slide?
