The crf-x is way outdated. Pretty sure it is still based on the 05 crf.
Agreed. The WR was a top bike.

I'll be honest, the last time I rode it, it definitely struggled to turn compared to the 350 EXC I rode. But it's such a stable bike out on the trails; the extra weight is handy over rough stuff. The KTM's definitely feel alot twitchier at higher speed.

Are you really that statistical? I weighed my 250X on an industrial level scale, then I weighed a Crf450R. The 250X was 3 lbs lighter. Sure it's one of the best enduro bikes out there l, but that doesn't make it as light as a 125..... It's a heavy mofo.... Handling isn't lightning quick either Dr. Motoexpert.
if you take off/replace the battery you can loose up to 5lb, same if you take off the headlight that most people never use. I never claimed it was as light as a 125, however when you scaled it, did they have the same amount of oil and gas in them? if one of them has half a gallon of gas less, its going to be 4lb lighter. But that's not the point. Let me put this into perspective, i went from an 04 cr250x to an 03 cr125, the 125 was about 30-40lbs lighter, still didn't corner as sharply as the 250x (my dad still owns the 250x btw so i did compare them), because the 250x had a shorter wheel base. Its alot harder to park a truck with an extended cab and a large bed then parking a beetle now isn't it. Im going to assume that you weight between 120-150lb, or your shorter then 5'8, if either one is the case then i can kind of see were your coming from. But the bottom line is, CRF-X modle bikes have a shorter wheel base, and they will turn at shapes angles, probably not going to work well on the motocross track, but in the trails, its going to be perfect. shorter wheel base = faster turning, not worth debating, google it if you dont beleive me, if you dont think it corners well thats you, everyone is different.

Stormz wrote:Saying that a Crf 250/450x is "one of the best trail bikes out there" only shows you've never ridden a true enduro bike.

Those two, along with the WRF's (and I am a yami fan) are absolute shit compared to a KTM or Husaberg. Hell, a stock yz250 is better in the wood than those things. They are heavy, terrible handling and the 250's can't get out of their own way.

And +2 -2 gearing is identical to the terrible gearbox on the X's.
For starters, i said one of the best, not The best, and im singling onto the 250x, 450's are to much for the trail, and no one will ever use all that power on the trails. Second of all, when i say one of the best, im comparing it to WR's XC's and XC-F's. Husaberg makes a nice bike i wont lie, but i would never own anything out of the big 5 again, and i doubt i will get very many chances to ride one. so i wont say anything good or bad about them. I personally think yamaha's handle like crap compared to honda's, Not saying that they are bad bikes, but i have never cared for the way they feel, ive ridden a WR and YZF 450, just didn't care for the way they handled, power delivery is a different story.

and you dont know what your talking about when it comes to the gear ratio buddy. For starters, most enduro bikes Like the CRF-X have wide gearing ratio. That doesnt mean its the same as a -2 +2 (im assuming thats what your meant) on a Motocross bike. What that means is that your 1st gear is smaller, it will rev out faster then it would on a normal MX bike. so the 1st gear in the long run puts down more HP but less top speed. 2nd 3rd and 4th gear are the same as an MX bike. so threw those 3 gears, a 0-0 gearing on a CRF-R is the same as 0-0 gearing for a CRF-X. The 5th gear is larger, basically makes it so that it wont top out as fast as the average MX bike, however it will have a higher top speed. so a -2 +2 ratio is nothing like the gear box in enduro bikes. However i understand were you get the misconception. Enduro bikes have more engine breaking then MX bikes. However that is intentional. They have different cams, It is basically so that you can hit the sharper corner, or at the end of the day when your tired, you can coast down the hill without constantly riding the breaks which a lot of slower trail riders will do, and end up glazing over their breaks, or just to make it easier for the faster riders twords end of the ride.

And im not going to argue that a Stock YZ250 would be better in the woods. I think if you want to ride fast an aggresive on the trails, you get a two stroke, bottom line end of story. light, nimble, and fun. even though life was hell on my 125 in the woods on some of the steeper crazier stuff. I still enjoyed the bike more because i could man handle it, i couldn't do that with my 250x.

sorry for triple post, after this im done lol. But the crf250x is super outdated, they havn't changed sence 04 actually. But they never really needed to change anything, The first year it was on the shelf, it got bike of the year. there was no big problems with it, (besides the valves but that was all honda's in 04), i bet in 2014 or 2015 they add fuel injection, they might also go to the air suspension, I would call that a bad call considering the elevation changes that alot owners will go through, but you never know.

Husaberg is owned by KTM and 99% of the parts are interchangeable, but I guess since its not got a "big 5" name, you won't care to have one...

And I know what a WR gearbox is...I have one on my FX, all I was saying is putting +2 -2 gearing on in sin makes it much closer to a WR because irl you rarely use 1st anyways and the other gears are super long. Well, you may use it, since you apparently aren't aggressive or fast :P

It was a typo I meant 13 not 3, pretty close.
