Have it capped at a certain amount of characters and just cut off the rest that doesn't fit.

Just wanted to bump this to see if you are still planning on adding the "seconds the next position is behind you" feature. I personally don't care about the knowing the riders name/number who is behind or in front of me, but I would like to at least know how far behind me the next person is.jlv wrote:Since you'd only ever want to know the next rider ahead and behind, maybe this should go on the pitboard. Lets say I'm running second place, I make a mistake and go down. When I get going again I hear/see a bike right behind me but I don't know if they are a lapper or for position. If it was for position, I would want to protect the inside lines so I don't get passed. If it was a lapper I would just continue on taking the fastest line to make up time and try to catch the leader. Right now I have to assume it is for position unless I know for sure it is a lapper. In most situations the lappers will fall down fairly quick and you don't have to worry, but towards the end of a race you start catching up to faster riders who can stay fairly close to you, which can cause a problem if you think it is for position.
I think there are plenty of situations that could benefit by knowing how far behind the next position is. Hopefully it will be on an update soon!! (fingers crossed)

I admit I forgot about it after that. I do have "add custom pitboard" on the TODO list though. This is something that Javascript in the game would be really helpful for.

Ill forgive you for never doing this if you make the move towards modularity instead. I wanna see how a GP Bike would handle so damn bad with your stabilizer. What's it gunna take!? Do I need to take out a second or third mortgage?

That's the direction I want to go in. The bikes themselves are actually pretty modular already. It wouldn't be a big deal to make it load from a file. There are some settings that take a bit of voodoo to get right though. The main problem with a GP bike would be that 128 Hz is not quite enough temporal resolution for those wheel speeds.
