Adjustable Rider Neutral Position

Post by DJD »

Would it be possible to have a setting for the rider's neutral (Attack) position? Say when I release the dab button I want the rider to stay all the way forward without having to push the joystick up.

Or if you wanted the dab (seated) position to be all the way forward or slightly farther back. Would be nifty if we could adjust that to suit our riding styles.

Would be a small adjustment, but I feel it would make a difference. Idk.

But then wouldn't people have to tweek there setups, i have mine so if im leaning forward going off a jump, im going over the bars. So it'd be sick if it was an option in the bike menu.

Sure but that doesn't make it a bad idea.

I thought this was what forward spring did? Good idea though.

Rider mass distribution sets the forward/rearward position.

I thought that just changed center of mass of the rider? .50 puts the weight to the upper body .30 set it down lower? Doesn't change the riders position on the bike.

Rider spring

In forward spring it determines where the rider is on the bike in a neutral position.
Less forward spring the rider will be on the back of the bike, more forward spring and the rider will be more to the front of the bike in a neutral position.

From MXS Bike setup application help files. I noticed that it worked in that way while dicking with it, as well. That could be placebo effect though.

I would hope JLV remembers the options he added to his own game :P

No it doesn't. Rider spring and damping effect how quickly the rider reacts to inputs from the controller and how the rider/bike reacts to the track. Has nothing to do with the riders neutral position on the bike.

yeh i'd like to have neutral position adjust in bike setup, something like +2 +1 0 -1 -2 , where 0 is the current neutral position and + would be a more forward neutral position and - a more rearward neutral position, but i dont know if that would change the overall range of movement available, say like if you set your neutral position slightly more forward than the current could you move further forward but not so far back, and the reverse if you set the neutral back would he move less further forward but be able to go further back,in other words would the range of movement forward/back be fixed by the neutral position or would the range remain as now regardless of the neutral position.
currently of course it is possible to put both forward and backward rider movement on one pedal or slider then you have no neutral position, your rider position is wherever your pedal is at. i tried it but i couldnt get a feel for it in 3rd person, but it might work out in 1st person.
still i think a movable neutral position would be a good addition, its helpful to have that fixed reference of the neutral position, adding an adjustment would give a bit more rider preference and a wider individuality of riding style.
