Auto download skins online
Yes, same idea that has been proposed a million times. But, they say the squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekey wheel gets the grease so I'm going to make sure it keeps squeeking.
Downloading a ton of crap you don't want to run just to see other teams and players is so 10 years ago. Is this already added to the list or was there a reason it wasn't added to the list?

that would be a good idea, but than wouldn't it lag extremely for the less fortunate computers. Also, loading time, if people have shit internet. Than it would be a very long wait to even start riding.

Re: Auto download skins online
I personally dont want it.
I get limited bandwidth and this would eat it all.
There would obviously be a large delay before races waiting for everyone to download each others stuff.
As if it wasnt bad enough waiting for people with bad pc's

Double post!
And have a "time out" where after a certain amount of time it quits downloading for you.

LFS has a good system for it where you can turn the download function on and off and you can also choose if you want the full res or a half res.
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit.

Maybe the downloadable things would be listed and you can choose what/if you want to download...

Iracing system has a system that you click the car (bike in our case. 250 450 125 250 50) this is all out of game too so loading wouldnt be much of an issue. The only issue is you would be downloading more stuff than maybe needed.

I don't think the bandwidth would be unmanageable with the number of riders we have. The main issues would be skin compatibility with the bikes and handling copyright violations.

Re: Auto download skins online
iRacing hasn't had an issue with the copy write side of it. Even people paying to have their cars and logos in the game don't seem to mind it. That said iRacing doesn't distribute the skins in any way shape or form. They did "accidentally" include a template in one of their template packs that they had agreed with Williams F1 to not distribute...

Where do the files come from in that case? They have to send them somehow.

Re: Auto download skins online
There is a third part website and piece of software. Before that existed it was pretty much just sharing them on the forums.
Their system is setup to show the skin you can create on the iRacing website, unless you have a skin linked to that users UID. It would be AMAZING to have skins linked to UID, so even when Tyskorn joins his 5th team of the year I don't need to download his new skins to see something other than a stock model.
