cursor change in editor

Post by slowngreen »

JLV, would it be possible to get a feature where you can make the cursor into a specific shape? Like using a gradient edit but for the cursor and for up and down instead of side to side.

You mean a brush shaped by a curve instead of a circular brush, right? Yeah, that'd be possible. Might be easier to do a bitmapped brush instead though.

I dont know if thats what I mean or not lol. I wanna be able to make it anything other than round, like square or just completely a random shape. Ive wanted this every time Im trying to make rocks which always end up round since the brush, would be nice to have it change able for raise, lower, smooth and smudge I think.

Are you matching it against decals? I wonder if it'd be a good idea to make a script or editor function to modify the height field based on the decals. It'd save a lot of work and automatically match the decals too.

What I was picturing was a brush edit, like the gradient edit, which you set your shape in then add it in your map. The edit would just be for the shape, then you would use the strenght/focus/radiant to adjust the size....Thats just what I was picturing.

OK. I was asking because I have a little program that I use for creating tilemaps from decals that wouldn't be too far from adjusting the heightmap based on decal images.
