Allow for smoothing of keyframe movements

Post by KTM57 »

I'm not sure what the proper term for this would be, (interpolation?) but it would be nice to be able to somehow avoid abrupt changes in camera pan speed when using keyframes to set up a shot like this:

I would love to be able to set a few points on a path and have the camera gradually rotate or change speed to fit points between the beginning and end, rather than have it simply arrive at each point and then move along a straight path to the next one. This would allow us to follow bikes around corners, to pan in a circular path around a track similar to a helicopter, and to do other similar things.

It would also be great if the keyframe system would cooperate with the free camera that follows the rider by pressing the dab button. If we could set two coordinates for the start and stop of the camera motion and have the x coordinate follow the center of the bike so that it's not perfectly in the center of the screen, then we might be able to set up some really cool angles and have some nice on-track cameras for viewing races, as well.

Obviously, none of this is game-breaking, but seeing as a substantial amount of sales seem to be driven by user-created videos, it might be wise to allow for your unpaid advertisers to create better content.

You would almost want the option to ease in and ease out of the keyframe point.

Isn't interpolation just a different method of finding a number along a curve. (Curve generated by a series of numbers) <-- Partly a question

But I do support this, it needs smoothing

What the keycams need is a spline curve.
