Using something similar to
server, lap 5 or server, time 14:00

This would help with reviewing protests IMO.

We have a python script for trimming demos, but I haven't been able to find it recently.

There's no way to do it instantly since it has to scan the bike positions in the demo to rebuild the timing info. You can skip ahead without messing up the timing if you use --accurate-skip in the command line parameters.
