Using One Norm/Spec Set on Multiple Objects

Post by SMR 510RR »

I have tried naming my JMs and PNGs every way I can think of and it doesn't seem like this works, if it does please fill me in. If it doesn't I think it would be a great addition.

I have made some new SX Tuff Blocks, I think there are something like 7 different shapes and sizes. I tried UVing them every way possible and the best way was to put them all on a single texture. I did this because it is super efficient since I was able to get them packed in nice and tight and because then the pixel density on each object is exactly the same. What I would like to do is share the norm/spec between them and only swap the diffuse out so they can have different logos and whatnot.

Is there a way currently or could it be added so that it worked like this example:
Objects named - tuff-1, tuff-2, etc.
Diffused named - tuff-monster, tuff-mxs, etc.
Norm/spec named - tuff_norm and tuff-spec

Its sort of how bike naming works where it searches for the correct stuff going from most specific to least specific until it finds something that matches up.

Or even if we could add it to the statues line without breaking existing tracks.

Use a texture link. There's some info on them here.
