Bike Adjustments and Suspension Changes
JLV,
Here are some requests that I have after the addition of the new collisions. These are all bike adjustments that would mimic changes that are done in real life.
Triple clamp offset: Having the ability to change your offset from standard 22 degree to either 24 or 20 degrees would be very helpful. On an open outdoor national you can change to a 24 degree clamp to calm down initial steering, in supercross you can change to a 20 degree clamp that will create more initial turn in.
Fork height in clamps: This will allow us to run a raked or more stink bugged setup without changing the internal valving of the suspension. Gives more options for many different riding styles.
Rear linkage length: I assume that this isn't an option as I don't really see you having the linkage programmed into MXS. Basically it would be nice to simulate this other than lowering your rear preload or making a raked setup. It would be nice to be able to run a higher or lower rear suspension without it changing your overall travel. My current understanding is the lower your rear preload is the less total travel your suspension has? I also remember reading you say that the end point of the suspension stroke changes dependent on different settings?
High/Low speed compression adjustment: This is a big one. First off right now you are unable to set your compression plush initially without having a suspension that has very little to no bottoming resistance. If we had this we would be able to set our high speed compression softer initially for braking bumps and rollers and have a stiffer low speed compression to keep the bottoming resistance of our current settings. From a track making standpoint this will allow us to make rougher tracks with deeper ruts to get speeds closer to what they are in real life races while keeping the racing fun. This will play a big role in how the game plays in my opinion. I think if we had this compression adjustment we would have less crashing and more than likely not quite as tough of a learning curve for beginners.

Lol. Kids. They support tire pressures but not this.

If I knew what linkage was I would vote yes.

The longer the link the more leverage on the rear shock thus lowering the rear end vise versa for shorter link.. It also changes the progressive curve of the rear suspension but that is pretty complex and would complicate things. I guess this also leads to the question is the rear suspension currently rising rate?

Why are there gears in that thing you call a linkage? Does it work in the transmission too?

Re: Bike Adjustments and Suspension Changes
I thought it did, but when I went to look up the ratios it looks like even though there's code for rising rate, every bike is set to use to same ratio through the entire travel. I think it might have made it too stiff with the rising rate so I just got rid of it. I'll have to revisit that. Things have changed a lot since I wrote that.Hi Im Skyqe wrote:I guess this also leads to the question is the rear suspension currently rising rate?

Sounds good. Do you see any of these suggestions (preferably rising rate rear suspension and high and low speed compression) making there way into a snapshot at some point?jlv wrote:I thought it did, but when I went to look up the ratios it looks like even though there's code for rising rate, every bike is set to use to same ratio through the entire travel. As long as there's an option for no linkage at all, I'll support it.

Re: Bike Adjustments and Suspension Changes
I might give the rising rate linkage another shot soon. The high/low speed damping wouldn't be hard either, but I'm not too sure about what the speed threshold and change in damping should be. Need to do some research on it.Hi Im Skyqe wrote:Sounds good.
