Race bikes.

Post by Phathry25 »

No! Not faster/better bikes for racing.

It doesn't seem right that 3/4 of the field is on Yamahas, but in my testing I've found them to clearly be the best bike, at least for SX. While it's not exactly simulation, it would be better from a competition standpoint to have a set of equally performing race bikes. (YZ250f (R) etc...) Weather you take the best performing bike or the worst it doesn't matter, just so that we can avoid having 3/4's of the field on the same bike.

Great post phathry, I was actually wondering the same thing. Most use honda/ yamahas. It may be because they have the better skins, but this game was built I'm guessing a real dyno. So why are for instance 1 brand is so much faster, then the rest. Now a days all the bikes are pretty even on speed, but some corner better etc, I'm just wonder how often if any is the I guess dyno of the bikes changed. Not sure how to say that. I may be going way off on what phathry was meaning but I feel the same way as what he is saying..

The 2009 YZ did have a good dyno. The CR and RM still beat it in the midrange though. I don't think any brand will prevent you from winning.

My testing block was the quad in the first rhythm lane at A1. While I could get it about 50% of the time on the KX/CR/RM I could do it about 95% of the time on the YZ.

Although I agree, you can win on any bike. I still feel forced to ride the YZ because I don't need to be as clean to do the big sections lap after lap. It has that little bit extra to pull me out of a bad situation if I need it. Which makes me more consistent and in turn more likely to win.

I knew it! I had to push kx to the limits to jump some of those jumps and also others were saying its the slowest bike in the game.

Amen, YZ wins the game, I've asked JLV about this before as people gave me all kinds of different 'facts' about the bike's power and powercurves, but from what I understand the difference really isn't much.
However equal bikes might be more 'fair' this is a simulation no?
The SLIGHT difference in bikes makes it for me more realistic, in the end the rider decides who wins or loses, like in real life.

I personally want to test out JLV's RM144 that he keeps bringing to the 125 races after the sx main events...

I think that the dynos should eventually be re-done. It's 2011, and we need 450s, 350s, 250 2 strokes, and maybe 500s. I think most of us would agree that the bikes are really fast in the game, probably faster than even a factory 250f. So, I think we should have stock and factory engine settings, where the factory engines are all faster than stock but more evenly matched than stock. The new stock dynos should be slower than the current ones. Then maybe the B class will have to race stock bikes, while those who qualify/show up for the A class can race factory settings.

Meah. Let's just pit 250 against 250f and 500 against 450f. THAT is fair.
