Editor problems

Post by Voutare »

I've encountered a few problems in the past couple hours that are just driving me nuts.

First, change the decal delete system. X shouldn't delete a area. If anything, it should be a completely different key. There are so many times I hit caps lock when tabbing through, and end up deleting my overlay decals when I just want to delete one specific one, and I can't replace those without exiting out and restarting and losing all my previous work and everything.

Second, the spacing doesn't work with decals anymore. You can't click to change it, and the bar is way to big, and it jumps from .25 for the lowest setting to 9 something for the next, with max being 1000 something. So you need to resort to clicking every time to place them.

Third, scaling decals in game would make my life so much easier.

I'll fix the decal spacing. Not sure why I gave it so much range. For now you can hold the mouse over the bar and use the cursor keys to adjust it.

If you click caps lock on or off it will delete either a range or a single decal.

Im aware. It sucks because I can't get the decals back after you delete them. Sometimes I guy caps lock not knowing it and want to delete one and end up deleting 50 and its nearly impossible to get them to line up again.

Also ,How about making the zoom in and out somewhere different then next to the backspace button(undo).I dont know how many times Ive undid something by hitting the backspace accidently and theres no getting it back what I did..really frustrating..

Can we have a Redo button?

Also it would be nice to be able to undo more than 4 times...

I have to admit I'd love a complete undo/redo history too. Probably going to do other stuff first though.

yer i have to agree with the decal system. i really dont like it at all. that spacing thing is an issue i have found when choosing decals
would sorta like a better menu system for the editor though. like instead of a slider for tilemaps a drop down box.
also for decals i would rather a drop down box with a little pic next to a name and i dont think it would be that hard as we already have the png for the decal and would make it easier only being able to select your decal through the menu rather then accidentally clicking the wrong decal on the track and placing it over your work -.- that annoys me.
but im learning more and more with the more i use the editor. as i dont have ps it makes it harder but i have finally found ways of creating berms quickly and perfect shape everytime and it is much better for making jumps than ps as you can adjust it on the spot. i did have a trail of ps and created 2 tracks and found difficult but this editor is great and only needs tweaking for me personally.
just a quick q jlv. what is the radius of your berms for 180 turns in the sx series and the length of your tripples as well???
thanks for the continued work on this game and editor.

No specific radius on the berms. Here are my SX making notes. When you paint in the berms, use one click on the highest part of the berm. You'll need to use a large brush at focus 0.

Scale -
for 1.25:1 scale, track should be about 30 ft wide (48 pixels for .625 scale)
total starting gate will be 105 ft wide (168 pixels for .625 scale)
starting gates should be 5 ft apart
space gates 4.5 apart for 22 riders

SX whoops -

make sharp bottoms (two lines), curved top, control points should be
3.33 away from bottom points, 1 high about a .3 slope

SX berms -

peak 5 ft high
linear .5 slope down to 2.5 ft (for 90 degree turns use .75 slope instead)
curve the rest

SX rhythms -

most jumps between 3 and 5 ft high
start with 3.5 slope on faces, backsides as flat as possible
table step off slopes .1 to .15

SX triple/finish jumps -

launch peak 7.5 ft high, .55 slope
triple landings about 6 ft high
finish landing about 7 ft high
