FPS Stutter issue

Post by DBRider251 »

I'm not sure why, but I'm getting a bunch of frame drops down to 16, and only 16. My /fpshist says 128=17044 64=6 32=0 16=271 8=0 4=0 2=0 1=0. I've updated my drivers and this happens in single or multi player, whether I'm moving or sitting still. Newest snapshot all the way back through the past 4-5

It may sound stupid, but have you tried just reseating your RAM? You could also do the same with your GPU or even just check if all your power cables are properly connected. If nothing else it's a free and quick check before you tear everything else apart - just a shot in the dark as there's not a ton of info to go off here.

Do you notice issues in other games/apps or notice strange performance/power usage spikes in system monitoring like the task manager?

I tried both, and didn't help. I also don't see it in any other game. Probably going to try reinstalling sim on a different drive now and see if it helps any

Updating the drivers is actually what caused the issue it seems like. NVidia 546.33 fixed it on my 3070 TI

Well... thought it fixed it. It's back. I can reinstall my driver and it works fine until I close MXS. Even if I reinstall the same exact driver.

Narrowed it down even further. It happens after I put my PC to sleep, restart, or shut down. I can reinstall my drivers and everything works fine until I do one of those 3 actions. After that, I will get micro stutters until I reinstall again. I'm only noticing it in MXS, but may be happening everywhere and I'm not catching it as bad...

Is is possible every time it wakes up Windows updates one of the files the Nvidia driver installed? What happens if you disable Windows Update and then install the Nvidia driver?

I finally just reinstalled Windows. Even that didn't fix the issue, but I turned off fast startup in Power Options and it seemed to help even though it didn't before I reinstalled. I guess it was probably something with the Windows update, but not sure. I haven't had it since I turned that off though.
