What kind of controller is it? If it needs a driver try reinstalling it.

It's a steelseries nimbus controller. There's no drivers for it, so i don't know why the game would crash just by connecting to it.

It's crashing during the device enumeration. That's where the game calls directinput to list out the controllers and their axis/button counts. Something's wrong with either your directinput dll or one of the drivers it's using.

I went and bought a regular 360 controller and now it works flawless.
