Getting a ps3 controller

Hello guys! This has may been posted before, but im wonder what I need to get a ps3 controller working with the game. I have the controller and a cable so i can connect it, but a friend told me that I needed some program to get all options working and so.. So, if anyone that got or know how to do this could post a link for that program (if needed) I would be really thankful
I´m asking about this because its getting harder and harder for me to qualifying with a keyboard when I race againts really good riders.

I use MotioninJoy to connect my ps3 controller its pretty simple and theres tutorials to help you get it setup.

Nice thanks man! But i got another problem.. I can get my controller working with the pc, I tested vibration and it also loaded the drivers and everything.. But I need a setup menu in the game so I can choose witch button that I wanna use for throttle for example. I also tested the buttons response, and it all worked fine. So, if you could help me to get this setup menu I would be really happy

i use a ps3 controller with the same controls as alive but is there any way to make L2 and R2 able to do half throttle/brake because right now i cant roll the throttle in corners or jumps just wide open
