Not working after reinstalling

Post by mdaddict »

I seem to be having some problems getting mxsim to run after rolling back to Ubuntu 10.04 from those god-awful Unity/Gnome3 distro's. I have v1.4 and got ia32-libs installed, now whenever I try to run mx I get:
john@john-desktop:/$ /home/john/mxsimulator-1_4/mx
Segmentation fault
john@john-desktop:/$
I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting on this one, I tried updating to 1.5/6/7 and the latest snapshot.... any thoughts?

Another thing to add is I also have a different video card installed then when it was working previously... I'm not sure if the error could be courtesy of Nvidia or not. The card in there now is a gfx 550 ti with 295.59 driver. Previously it was a Quadro FX something-or-other, not sure if it was on the 295 driver or not. I can try swapping it back if there's suspicion of a hardware problem.

I agree that Gnome 3 sucks, but try using Xfce instead of using an outdated distro.

Sorry for the double post... I reinstalled the nvidia 295 driver and ran security updates, which included some nvidia patches and libraries. Now she's working like a champ. Thank you
