Can't assign clutch to left trigger (360 Controller)

I'm having a problem when I attempt to assign the clutch to my left trigger. It woks with all other buttons but neither trigger will work. My throttle works just fine one my right trigger.

I don't want to use a button because I like to feather the clutch, which would require me to tap a button multiple times. I'm currently not using the left trigger so this would free a finger and button up.

It almost seems as if it's blocked or something. I tried using xpadder which did nothing or I don't have it setup correctly for MXSIM. If I could assign this in the CONFIG file or something I could handle that. Thanks in advance!

The triggers of the 360 controller are on the same axis, meaning only one can be used at a time, or else the axis just goes to zero.

So would it work with other racing games? Or is it just the way MXS reads the controller or something?

It doesn't mean you can't use it, it just means that you need to think carefully about what you set to each trigger.

I have front brake on the right one and clutch on the left. The only limitation is I can't hold the front brake on the start gate, while the clutch is in.

as far as assigning it, I think I use motion joy, and you have to try a few settings before the triggers are axis instead of buttons, but once it's set up it works great

I just don't understand why they didn't make them separate axis? Holding the trigger down for + and releasing it for -

I've gotten it to work with XBCD: http://vba-m.com/forum/Thread-xbcd-0-2- ... osted-here. But it's sorta a pain to setup (had to do a lot of trial and error to get it to work...).

It works all I had to do was change the trigger I wasn't using to "use seperate axis" I didn't even bother to make sure it wasn't an axis I was already using and if it was going to conflict. But I haven't had any problems so I'm assuming it assigns an axis that isn't being used by default.
