Know nothing about Graphics cards, is this one ok?

Post by newmanb138 »

So I downloaded the demo, and it is literally not even playable it is so slow.

Here is my system info,
Windows 8
4GB of ram
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corp. - WDDM 1.1)
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz.

As I stated, the game is unplayable, and I am just wondering if my system is capable of running the game and if so, what do I need to change to get it to run smoothly. Also, I checked and my drivers are up to date.

Thanks for the help!!

You might want to check the driver info in the game to make sure it isn't using the Microsoft GDI driver.

That is just about the slowest graphics chip that can run the game.

don't want to be a bother, but can you somewhat explain how to check that and how I need to set it up.... I'll be the first to admit, I do not know much about computers.

Also, if I get it setup correctly, should it run smooth with my graphics card?

Again, thank you for your help!!

My guess would be that card will do about 30 fps with low settings. Look in the game's Graphics/Sound Menu. At the bottom it will say "Driver Info:" followed by the graphics vendor, card and version. If it's says "Microsoft GDI" you will definitely benefit from installing the graphics driver from Intel's site. If you already have Intel's driver installed it may or may not help.

Well I couldn't find that option last night when I was looking, but I will have to double check. But I did put ALL the graphics settings as low as it would allow me just to see, and no matter what I did to the graphic setttings the game was EXTREMELY slow. I'm talking it would take about 2min just for the gate to drop. So not really playable at all. Guess I might be out of luck with this game.....

Or can anyone give me a step by step intruction on what settings to try and whatnot. As I have stated, I know alot about alot, but computers isn't one of those things. Just trying to see if its possible to get this to run smooth on my current laptop. I am looking into getting a new comp in the next couple months, but right now isn't really an option so just trying to get the game working until I get a new PC.

Thanks for all the help and input!!

That definitely sounds like you're getting software rendering. If I were you I'd install the graphics driver from Intel's site.

There is no Windows 8 graphics driver for that chip so you need either "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* 7" or "Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* 7 64", depending on if your OS is 64 bit or not.
