Hey there... There is a chance if your key has a 1 or l it could look the same ingame. Try switching those to 1 (one) or the letter l.
Also try everything lowercase too.

Is your setup all as you left it? if so then would deleting the config file fix this? that way the game would re write the config and you could just re enter the Reg Key.
BUT before that just make sure your key is correct as jon said

"This key looks bad" always means you have a typo in the key.

Re: reg key not working after reboot
thanks for your help guys! here was the problem... me being the tremendous penis which i am had written down a 0 instead of and o on a piece of paper when i first purchased the game. yeh, penis. and Matt as for that config file thing, i had a message pop up saying that a "config.xml"??? if thats right.. had been deleted. so i had to do all my settings overs again, name, number suspension, etc etc. as for the track i was working on..well i got some "bad height parameters" message and it wouldnt load. so i i just started over again!
and JLV sorry to drag you away from your work to even waste your time to respond to such retarded mistake! but i thank you alot mate for doing so. and thanks matt and jon for your speedy response's too
