Another Mac Installation trouble thread

Post by Chuckdavies »

Firstly sorry, as i already know this is an ongoing topic and has probably been covered before but Ive tried searching through Google and this forum but can't find any answers...(Yes, I have read through the sticky about installing on a mac plus the youtube video but its so out of date now that none is relevant)

I downloaded Crossover this morning for my mac, and decided to download the MXS demo first to make sure it will all work before buying the game... Anyway, it all installed fine although when opening the game, it loads the menu screen but there's no text at all, just blank buttons...

Is this a quick fix or does anyone have any ideas? As soon as i can get this working and see the game works on my macbook (im sure it will as it has upgraded ram and runs Photoshop, Illustrator and Cad at once with no issues), then ill buy the full version straight away so i can get downloading some tracks and bikes.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Chuck

It's the same problem as in this topic. The following exe works around the bug:

I don't have a fix for the demo version at this time.

Josh, thanks for the reply. I had a read through and as you said, there's no fix for the demo so i've just purchased the game.

All installed fine as far as i can see through Crossover. When I try and run the game though, the flag icon loads in the dock and disappears after a few seconds and nothing happens?

Ive not entered any of my activation codes or anything yet? Not sure if ive missed that, but cant get the game to load at all now?

Any ideas please? Can't wait to get it working!

Cheers :)

Getting nowhere with Crossover, I downloaded Windows 7 using VirtualBox. Game downloaded and installed but insane lag!

May be as my mac is slowly filling after a 16gb addition of Windows 7 plus partitioning 25gb space to it. If this is the reason then ill clear loads of space tomorrow and put loads of stuff on my External Harddrive :)

You might want to give winebottler a try. If you had the demo mostly working in Crossover the full game should work the same.

I tried again with Windows 7 again this morning but lag is still terrible (about 30 seconds before the gate drops at the start of a race!)

I downloaded winebottler and installed through that but the game wouldn't open after installing...

I'm really stuck now :( I thought i had a fair knowledge of computing but this is all new territory for me and i can't think of a workaround to get this thing running smoothly at all!

You're probably getting software rendering in VirtualBox. The manual says it can do hardware 3d. I have no idea how well it works though.

Does the demo still work in Crossover? It's strange that the demo would work while the regular game wouldn't.

If all else fails send me an email and I'll get a refund for you.
