Different Laptop Suggestions...

Post by Jlillywhite23 »

Hello. I run MX Simulator on an old 2008 Toshiba Laptop hahaha. It runs fine, but the graphics seem to suck balls....... my graphics set up is the following:

Ground Geometric Detail: 50
Ground Texture Levels: 5
Ground Texture Resolution: 32x32
Enable Ground Mipmaps: No
Compress textures: Yes
Terrain Rendering Method: Hardware/Direct
Use Shader Programs: No
Model Geometric Detail: 10
Model Texture Detail: 5
Roost Density: 0
Enable Lens Flares: No
Enable Reflections: No

It sucks so much. I can only ride on single player and I can only handle like 5 people in a server or else it will get really jumpy and glitchy... I am looking into buying a new laptop, but I can't spend that much ($400 or less(I'm 15...can't buy an $800 laptop, and my parents wont let me use a desktop)). What is a good model laptop for under $400 to buy. I'm not looking to run 40 man gate races, but I just want to be able to enter a 10-20 man server with OK-Good graphics and have it be smooth.

Thanks!

TBH there is no laptop I could recommend in that price range for MXS. Nothing you will get in that price range will work very well and will probably be more of what you have. Get a part time job and save some money up.

You're not going to get a good laptop for under $400. Get a job, save up and get a better one.

My desktop is a POS, so for rF races, I borrow my moms Toshiba work laptop. It has an i7 processor. She bought it for around 500$ I believe. It will run a rF race, of 40 riders, on high fps around 30 FPS. Most people probably couldn't stand it, but moving from my 2.4 ghz dual core desktop, to the i7 laptop makes a world of difference.

She happened to grab it for a steal during our local Staples closeout sale. She got it for like 560$ or so.

Just wondering, why a laptop? I get a lot of people (college age) look for them because they are going to use it for school and gaming. If you need to be portable with it I get it, but if you don't really need the portability get a desktop. You'll get way more bang for your buck.

What I've noticed its the social stigma that comes along with a desktop. If you have one then suddenly your a nerd and no one wants that label.

Get a laptop with a i5 quad core and 4gb ram at least. I don't think that will be as cheap as that as here it would cost £400 so around $675 but then computer's and part's are cheaper in the US than UK. So put that in a filtered search?

I want to get a laptop because I'm only 15. I can't afford a desktop and frankley, I don't need a super fast computer. I just want something that is more reliable and can run on small servers. I'm not looking to do the rF Races,or even use High Detail settings. I just want to be able to get on and play without worrying about the game getting glitchy.

I dont give a flying **** what people think about me. LOL. Like in my last response, I just want something to have fun on. I still want a social life, but I just want to be able to hop into a server without worrying if I am going to get good frame rate.

Easy does it killer. We suggest a PC because of how much more powerful the parts are for desktop and laptops can't carry that kind of performance. Chances are you'll want a pre-built and there is no way I can find a pre-built PC under $550 so I'll just drop that conversation there.

Also, good luck finding a quad-core i5 in a laptop because they don't exist. #PCmasterrace
