Controller buttons only working 4/5 tims

I got on sim and noticed around every 5 buttons I would press 1 wouldn't register, very annoying when dab doesn't work coming into a corner or missing a shift every single time coming through a straightaway. I tried switching controllers and it does the same thing. Not sure if its just sim or other games though. Just wondering if anyone's had the same problem and has a solution. Thanks
