Video Creation Help

Post by JayJay4T4 »

Hi guys,

Im having a little issue with recording videos for mx sim, as when i use the cable camera/ key frame thing and record it my FPS just seems to die for some reason. I'm using dxtory to record at 720p at the game at full graphics, I've tried with fraps also however the same issue arose, with a real laggy looking video recorded when i use this camera mode. Am i right in assuming this is a game issue?

The specs im running this on are:

3.4GHZ CPU
16GB RAM
GTX 580
and 1 terabyte of hard drive.

So do any of you have any idea as to how to fix this problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks Gents.

Sorry for DP, but I have been doing some testing/investigating.

The recording is fine up until a certain point, at which the recording and game fps falls to 8fps from the original 60.
One again, This is consistent across dxtory, fraps and now even the recording script, and varied graphics settings in the game.

Any ideas?

Yeah I'd love an answer to this topic as well, since I'm struggling with the same thing.. Especially on slowmo :(

Man that was the best advice ever  There are ways around not being able to run full on graphics to record a video. Here are just a couple that helped me, back when I did not have the best of computer specs lol. Hope it may help you.

Record in Windowed mode
Lower the Roost density to as low as possible even at 0 if it is still bad.
Of course lower the graphic detail a tad
turn lens flare off
Since you are using fraps, I suggest locking FPS to 30 fps, not sure if it is exact, but for me it always seemed to help me a bit. Worst thing is trying to get more out of it, than you can. For the time being , if doing videos is really what you want, you may have to just suck it up, and do whatever u possibly can to record.

In regards to window'd mode, what settings would you recommend, as i know there is a variety of resolution options and im not 100% sure about which is preferred. Also, the problem seems to be only in certain sections of the track with trees etc with large cinematic style shots, could that potentially be the issue? Thanks for all the help.
