I dont particularly remember how I did that one but I guess I put one weak spotlight pointing from somewhere above and then the important one was the area light behind the bike so it kinda separated the bike from the background. Very similar actually as a three point lighting used by photographers. Just tested how it looks and works well in this one.
Yes I use blender only.

Jre - thats one great looking render. Nice to see its possible to do great renders in blender too...everybody is like, blender sucks, but as i always say, blender is really powerful software which is just harder to learn! Great job man ;)

meckazz - your renders age getting better, thats great, so keep working ;) For this one, I would make the sun(light) a bit less shining and add some more skylight, now you have lots of overexposed areas and on the other hand some of the areas are way too dark

Thanks! Fully agree with you about blender. I don't really know any good reason why I'd choose the 3ds max instead of buying a dirt bike and continue my hobby with that money. If I got this kind of stuff with blender and I'm just a beginner, probably can't even make use of every great feature it has. Actually it's really nice and fast to use when you remember the hot keys and discover where everything is located. Feels very stable too. The blender is gonna have a great future I bet!

I think using a more horizontal angle for that setup would have fit a bit better. I gotta ask tho, is the bike sitting on a mirror stand?

yea the grass does look a bit sketchy, but I think using a lower horizontal angle it may look actually quite nice.

I wish I would have rendered out a grass test I was doing for creating a scene with MXJP text, and my JVDL helmet. I was quite pleased with the grass I created in Cinema 4d. Just lost interest, and deleted it all. My creativity level is at a low on that sort of thing. Deff have respect for some of you guys.

Did you use the blender internal render engine or Cycles? I only use the Cycles render engine now and like it a lot better.
