Re: Piru MX
the closest you zoom on google earth the higher detailed terrain you have. You can also take as much pieces of terrain you want that sketchup will arange it fine for you but then you will need to work with it on photoshop to fix some fails. Overral just add a blur to it. as i said it will be usefull to have real heights and everything else but you cant expect to have a 100% detailed terrain

Re: Piru MX
The terrain is actually fairly accurate I just have one more question. How do I get the 3d image in sketchup into photoshop?

Re: Piru MX
And is there a certain way I could somehow see the track layout. Becuase with the gradient added it is far to hard to see where the track layout is. thanks for all the help

Draw a black line then lower the opacity to 10 or lower.

I guess I'm retarded, I can't follow any of this. I messed up on the website tutorial and couldn't follow Slow's.

Hey On the Pipe id really like you to release LACR. Maybe if you just want to make a few changes, but id just like to see how it is cause i ride there all the time.
Also, tyskorn, id be so stoked if you made Piru. Two of my favorite tracks.
Thanks guys.

Re: Piru MX
I've been working with this for a few nights now, and i think that this method could really be useful. I know that I am nowhere near replicating tracks, i'm still trying to get the hang of photoshop but I've gone onto google earth and looked at alot of track terrains using sketchup. I've noticed that some tracks terrains come out looking way more detailed than others. i'm stuck at the part of importing the file from sketchup to 3ds max. but what i like most about this is today I was going down to a shop about 30 minutes south of my house. I live in a pretty decent sized city but once I get about 20 miles away I drive through some farms that have some crazy elevation changes. Huge rolling hills that go on for long distances. I opened up a few of these farms in sketchup and it would be so awesome to design a track on this land! i hope i can continue getting help with this technique!

Re: Piru MX
ok,
Here is what to do:
click on model on sketchup----->export obj
Import Obj on 3d max
Apply the gradient material technique
click on top view port
Make a simple top render
Theres a video tutorial for max part somewhere on the forum

Re: Piru MX
Are there any other programs we can use other than 3ds max? i noticed that there is only a 30 day trial and my computer can barely run the program for some reason.
