Re: Supercross 2010 - Who's making what
@Garasaki:I think the jumps definately need to be smoothened out.Because you can't do any fast lines.Such as the section on the bottom right of that pic you posted.I was hoping I could go outside and go double tiple on the first thing, but no luck. The triple take-off was way too messed up.The ruts and berms wer very good though. And the triples were perfect. The jumps in the rythem sections are really what I was talking about.

Re: Supercross 2010 - Who's making what
I think it's a very good track.
I agree, however, that some of the jumps require a lot of panic revving. Not all, however. The finish line jump in particular is very nice.
The whoops are nice and mellow. It seems to me that whoops can be gnarlier when they can be pinned through all the way because there is a jump ahead of them (like A2.) In this track, there are turns ahead of them, and so it is cool that they are very mellow as they approach the turn.
That is the biggest difficulty I'm having with the San Fransisco beta (which is awesome!). The whoops are very gnarly all the way into the turns, and braking in gnarly whoops is a very tricky business, especially without manual shifting to keep it in a high gear. The point is that the whoops could be a little bigger in some places, but they are perfect-sized as they go into the turns.

I respectfully disagree. The first three jumps right after the start are all obviously the same size, yet on your track they aren't. How does that make it more ride-able? In the 2nd rhythm lane the rhythm is supposed to be (IMO) Double step on, step on, step off, triple into the corner. Instead it's just a mess of casing jumps and panic revving my way through there. Same thing with the rhythm lane after the whoops.Garasaki wrote:The differences are minor and are generally tweaks to increase ridability of certain sections.
I'm also not a huge fan of the pre setup lines in the track. Build it flat all the way across and let up determine what lines are going to be used. I know I'm not alone on this one.

Shoot...sorry for the double post.
Like it's been said the triple and whoops are good, but its the rhythm lanes and smaller jumps that are destroying this track. You need to rethink how they are done, it's like all the rhythm lanes are setup to double through them, maybe that would be the case in 1999, but not now.

Re: Supercross 2010 - Who's making what
I agree with phathry on a couple points that he made about Garasaki's track.
First off (and this goes for everyone else), the displacement map should not have ruts in the corners and worn out jump faces. Instead, the track should look freshly groomed and ready for the first SX Lites heats. I understand the track map details some inside berms and thats fine, but thats not what i'm talking about.
Secondly, SX obstacles are supposed to be more sharply peaked so that if you case a landing, your rhythm through the rest of the section for the most part is messed up. Most of your obstacles are rounded off and smoothed out way too much for my liking. Your table tops are way too smooth and too long, and in general feel like they dont belong in an AMA sx track.
Thirdly, as phathry mentioned, some sections are not accurate. they are not how they probably will be in the real race). One example is the huge hits you built for the sections crossing over the start straight. I can almost bet money that they are going to be small ski jumps, much like the ski jump on A2's start straight. If not, it would maybe be a bridge even. Hell, coming off the finish line, some riders may cut inside and even roll that hump following the corner. I just can't remember the last time i've seen an open double jump across the start straight like that (and i stand corrected if someone can show me).

I'm not trying to disprove you, because i agree with you, but Houston 2008 had a double over the start straight, it was made for this game too.
About the ruts comment: What do i make a sand turn like? In my opinion, i think there should be some very shallow lines (shallow ruts) through them. I think the turns should also be somewhat lumpy (or not smooth). But i just really want your opinion on that, it would be very helpful.

Question for ddmx,(or anyone who has knowledge of his intents). Do you plan on adjusting your stadium to fit the "football field" stadiums? I am modeling a stadium for use on my own tracks, and I was just wondering if you had any plans to do this. Personally, I think having all of the tracks look alike may get boring. At the same time, you don't want some of the tracks to look great, and some look like garbage. What does everyone think?

Re: Supercross 2010 - Who's making what
I have plans to release my stadium in at least four variant sizes to fit most all supercross and arenacross variations. This will happen at the same time that I release the finishline structure and startline structure. Throughout the next few days though I quite literally have 15 solid hours of homework.
