Re: JLV Track Contest Previews
Why the week gap between entry deadline and voting? Is that for testing purposes by you, jlv?

Re: JLV Track Contest Previews
Im not sure why JLV did that, but I think it will increase the probability that everyone rides all the tracks and votes them easily.
I guess it would also give JLV time to iron out any small problems etc...

**equally** Sorry, I only just saw it when I posted, and I thought it made a pretty big difference to the context of my comment.

Pretty much. I'll have to make sure all the tracks generally work, make web pages for them and upload them.ddmx488 wrote:Why the week gap between entry deadline and voting? Is that for testing purposes by you, jlv?

Re: JLV Track Contest Previews
Thanks for the compliaments guys. I decided to enter this contest a lil later than I'd like to. I only have about 3 weeks total into it, and I only play the game at work. I work Mon-Fri 7am-4:30pm, and play this game when I get spare time. I ended up not using any LOD's at all for this track. I'm just under 40k poly's. I'm very happy with the outcome of the track. I tried to make this track look and feel as realistic as I could. I see what you mean about the skybox JLV, but when playing the game, it doesn't really stick out as much as it does from that skyview screenshot that you commented with. Maybe il make a transparent white/smokey layer over the skybox images to make the fog blend in better. And DJ, any word on the tutorial for the shading file?........Gettin' a lil worried since the due date is in 3 days. If you are not making one, I'l send you my info for shading purposes asap so it's not down to the wire and you'll have a couple days to work on it.

Re: JLV Track Contest Previews
Sorry mate, I'm not on my computer till after the deadline. And the computer I'm on would take like an hour to render the shadows.
http://www.mxsimulator.com/tracks/shadows.zip
Download them. Put your track folder into that folder. Copy your terrain and track.pov into the shadows folder itself.
Get POVray. Make a resolution for 2050x2050, as show here: http://www.povray.org/documentation/view/3.6.0/604/
Open shadows.pov, in the first couple of lines, there is WIDTH and LENGTH. Multiply track scale by 1024, and put these numbers there. Save it, and run shadows.pov. Fix any errors it gives you. If its running out of virtual memory, you will need to edit the shadows.pov file, and get rid of the tree .ini files
Thats all I can say. I bet it won't help though
