Re: Textures
Step 1 - Get Notepad++
Step 2 - Make a file called 'decals', with the following contents.
[x-co-ord z-co-ord] angle(in-radians) size x:z-ratio @foldername/picturename.png
eg.
[1000 1000] 0 40 1 @locust/dirt.png
Make sure when you save this file in Notepad++, the last line with a number next to it is empty.
Step 3 - In the editor, select decals, and select your decal, then click wherever you want it to be. There are 3 modes-
Copy- Uses the same angle as the one you are copying from
Random- Random angle
Flow- Adjusts the angle of your copy depending on its position with respect to the original.
Tips for making texture suitable for game-
-Go select all > Contract by 10 > Feather selection with 30 strength > inverse selection > hit delete 2 or 3 times

Re: Textures
I find that it's best to keep it around 5 decals. That's the best looking, and it runs nice on my computer.

Re: Textures
decals are basically like overlays right. for example tire tracks, or small rocks, or something like that?

Basically.
You have your default texture. You know the dirt and grass ones that were in the stock tracks?
What you do, is you lay down the stock dirt all over the track, and you put the decals over it. So it's a texture over a texture. You'll put those all over the map, for grass, ruts, dirt, etc.
For example, Thundervalley only uses the dirt texture, but has somewhere around 6 decals, which make the terrain.
I've got a question though, is there any way to make the textures always stack a certain way? I've layed out my track, but I need to put in off track dirt, that blends onto the track, but it will jump over the rut decals.
So is there anyway to make it so the offtrack is lowest, then on track, then tire ruts, then grass? Or whatever order?

Re: Textures
You should have done it in that order in the first place. But the only way I can see a fix is opening up the decals file, and moving all the lines around the place to get the layers you want, if you get what i mean.

Eh.
Yeah, I know, I completely forgot about how they layer. I just did the track and forgot about everywhere else.

How exactly do you select the different decals, if you have multiples?DJ wrote: Step 3 - In the editor, select decals, and select your decal, then click wherever you want it to be. There are 3 modes-

Re: Textures
My decal is showing up as a white block. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
