Having lighting not affect statues?

Is there any way to make lighting not affect statues directionally? Faces that are white, or are 2 planes like grass objects either look insanely over exposed or wonky. Is there a way to just exclude them from lighting?

Set the shininess to -2. As an example, here's the video screen from my supercross tracks:
