Actually, a freeway first moto and rough second moto would be a lot of fun.

I wonder if I should add ambient occlusion to the shading calculation. It might make the ruts stand out better. Would slow down the new erode stuff even more though.

^ i like that idea. not a completely smooth version, as it would still be some what rough and rutted from qualifying... but running 2 versions would be pretty sweet.

or just multiplayer deformation. :D

With dark tracks like this, I don't think that would help at all

gah, i was really getting into this (the series) and when budds came out i was so impressed, track progression was going through the roof. frustration was gone, i was struggling but i loved the tracks and the key word "play-ability" in the tracks was awesome. Specially Budds Creek.

Although this track is visually breathtaking. its accurate turn for turn. it does not have play-ability. I'm a local to the real red bud and have zillions of laps there....its much easier to do it in person after 30 motos have went off than it is to pull 1 lap in this one in MXS.

jagged ruts that make u flop for no reason. i was faceplanted while going down a straightaway...no idea why i crashed.
dark corners...specially the off camber on the south side of hte track. the section from the "mike alessi wad-up" thru the table top to uphill double...wtf? i need training wheels to get through it.

don't get me wrong, i'm hoping my criticism is taken with a grain of salt. I'm 5-6mo into the game and don't have the exp as some of the others...but this track is discouraging to me. RED BUD is the best track on the circuit today in real life, i dont get that feeling when i'm riding this one. Play-ability level is low and probably needs to fixed to achieve status like Buds Creek, that track hit the mark.

oh and its so rough my teeth hurt from riding in 1st person.

Track looks amazing, but it just lags too much to fully enjoy it. No other national this year has lagged for me, until this one.

I don't get all the complaining about this track from so many people.

In my opinion this is a great track. As said before, it has great visuals and the realism seems spot on. Red Bud 2010 is one of my favourite track in the game, adding roughness in this one to make it different seems like a nice change and the layout changes, even though disturbing in the begining, make a nice change too in my opinion.

My opinion is not of great value as this track is not meant for me in the begining. As a bad player (not beginner, just bad...) I am not supposed to ride this track so I think it is normal that I'm having a hard time doing fast clean laps.
Since I'm not good at this game and because the track is pretty rough, I have no problem taking it slow and using the 1/4 to 3/4 throttle range most of the times, this keeps me from crashing for most laps.

The only thing I would have made different, if I had the ability to make such an awesome track, are the ruts in some turns. The angle and depth of them added to the fact that they are quite narrow is making it quite hard for players at my level to take them slow, they are so steep that I have to carry way more speed that I'm comfortable carrying in bumpy entrances and exits, I often have to force myself going faster than I can handle to avoid just falling over a rut because I do not have enough speed.

This is the only criticism I have, taking into account that this track isn't meant for people of my skill level, I do not even know if this "issue" needs to be fixed, I'm sure good riders can carry enough speed and the steepness of the ruts helps them to rail the corners.

Thanks for the great track, and thanks for the challenge, I'm sure tring over and over to get some clean laps will make me a better rider in the end :)

1. The track is incredibly realistic (besides the sand rollers, where there's no sand). It looks real.
2. Not going to restate everything that's been said (that I agree with) about the very dark shaded sections, vertical ruts, and ridiculous rough in some sections.
3. With that said, bar none, one of the best looking tracks so far, with tons of time and hard work put into it, but really this track's main purpose is used for the national series with up to 40 riders of all skill levels, this track is NOT ideal for the race (but will be awesome for media stuff).

With that said, not much we can do about it now, lets just hope you get a good start, because this is going to be THE WORST track so far for people crashing everywhere, lappers or not...

Don't know if you mean in real life or in-game, but they did, and you can.

Wow. From reading, the lighting wasn't fixed after my last beta. That sucks. Gio, I hate to say I told you so. Please fix. This track is great with proper lighting. Unless it was changed since the last beta that wasn't black.

I think it's awesome. The roughness is perfect, it's probably not as fun as it would be going WFO everywhere but I think its cool. TBH probably going to be hell in the race + lag + goons not knowing how to follow one line and cutting across every which way (I'll be one of them  )

I played and worked on the track before. It was tough but once I learned (and did some smoothing) it became my favorite. But, I had also lightened the crap out of the shadows every beta so I could see the track. I hope Gio realizes we need it fixed for racing and releases an update. For those complaining, do it respectfully. Gio put in a ton of effort to this and did a damn fine job. It's okay to voice an opinion, just be respectful.

just got outa the server. although its challenging this is gonna be nightmare first laps. people stack up in the off cambers like a water crossing in the blackwater 100. each race i did, if you got snagged in one of the pileups or jams on the 1st lap...the leader was crossing the finish before anyone got half way around the track, lol.
