Windows 8

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

My dad has the full everything edition. He says it makes his computers twice as fast. So if I had to guess, I would think it would make your computer tons faster. Espically if you got a SSD to go with it.

why the hell would a college force you to use a brand new windows OS... don't they know Windows..

I'll wait a couple months and if the general consensus is that it's as good or better than 7, I might consider using it.

if youre in computer science, computer engineering...pretty much anything computer programming related, you HAVE to stay on the cutting edge. sure, for most things an older OS will work, even older programming software. but at major universities, especially ones with highly regarded programming departments, theyre going to be moving ahead as new things come out. the good thing is you get most or all of your software for free or at a much reduced cost. i got my programming suites for free, although since i did i couldnt use them to make programs for profit. and i got Win XP for 24 bucks. any college that uses software 3 generations behind is not a college i would want to go to...

one of my buddys had a class just on how to make apps for iPhones. useless, IMO...and now theyll probably learn how to make apps for win 8 LOL

Well, since I'm studying applied computer science/engineering (in dutch: Toegepaste Informatica), we have to go with the flow haha :p

well. I'm studying Software Engineering and they dont force that stuff on us.
they encourage us to look into that stuff but they also realize its a brand new OS.

Might install it next to windows 7 for testing purposes, but will be mainly using 7 for at least the next few months.

I mean, look at what happened with Vista..

just seemed a little wierd to force it onto people, while it's easy to allow people to use both. Most companies and private users don't work with windows 8 yet anyway.
