Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
It'll be Stewy winning outdoors this year. I'm hoping Weston gets a good amount of top 5's, and earns the right, to be Stewy's teammate next year in Supercross and Motocross.

Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
Not saying he did, but if you remember 2011, Dungey was so much more fluid as well as competitive on the suzuki, and if not for running out of gas on the last lap at freestone, as well as engine problems that forced him to start way late and behind everyone at southwich, would have won the title, beating Poto by something like 27 points (checked old points and did the math). Even with them he still only lost by like 14. When was the last time since leaving suzuki that we have seen him ride that good in a championship? The last 2 outdoors since then he just hasn't been the same Rider in the regular season, and even more mx de nations, which he won all 3 times he raced it on a suzuki, and since getting on the ktm is 0-2. 2012 no one was there besides him, and in 2013 he would still have ended around 19-25points behind even without his 2 mechanical mishaps. I like KTM, ride them myself, but I just feel it doesn't fit Dungey that well. I think a team like RCH would actually fit him fantastically, he used to train with ricky at suzuki when he was on it all the time, and considering how much better he is on suzuki period, I feel it would result in some championships.KTM57 wrote:Dungey sure did suck outdoors in 2012.
Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
I wish Dungey would go back to Suzuki, maybe even go to RCH, with Kenny staying at KTM.
Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
IDK, there have been so many cases of Dungey not being aggressive enough and not willing to do whatever it takes to make a pass. Even when the guy in front of him is holding him up he is content to sit behind them and take roost for a couple laps before passing. Then by the time he gets by he has lost a couple seconds and everyone is riding roughly the same pace so that is where he finishes. I think if he learned how to be aggressive it would do him a lot more good than switching to a different bike.
Who knows, it could be the bike look how much faster JS7 was after switching from the Yami...On the other hand Roczen has been doing fairly well on the KTM, it could just not fit Dungey I guess.

I really just think that everyone else got faster and Dungey stayed his same old non-aggressive self

Yea pretty much.kevin131mx wrote:I really just think that everyone else got faster and Dungey stayed his same old non-aggressive self

Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
He ran Villipoto down at some of the 2011 nationals when he was on the suzuki, now the only time he can beat poto is when poto gets a bad start or crashes. He can sometimes beat him if he has a really good day, but other than that, not really. Was just watching some old 2011 motocross races and really realized how much better Dungey seemed to be in general on it than the KTM. Back then he had mechanical problems in both sx and motocross in 2011, was still only 10 and 12 points behind poto at the end of both. Now he doesn't even finish close anymore. The past 2 sx seasons he had been like 34 points and now this season 51 points behind. Even without his dnf at anaheim he would still be lucky to be within 30 points. Just seems like he has gone backwards on the ktm, feel like its time for him to change it up, and also mabye even do what James did kind of, as in stop worrying what others expect of him and do it for himself. James says that made a huge difference this year for him.SMR 510RR wrote:IDK, there have been so many cases of Dungey not being aggressive enough and not willing to do whatever it takes to make a pass. You don't think Villopoto (and the whole field) has progressed?

I don't think Poto has gotten that much faster as people think he has, more so improved on the consistency of his riding I would say. The reason I say this is because guys like James and Reed haven't changed that much in speed over the years, if not slowed down some, and the speed difference/similarity between them and Poto doesn't look any different than it did 3 years ago. Thats the reason I feel the way I do about Dungey. But, enough of this, honestly I just want to see a battle for the championship like the ones in sx and outdoors in 2011. Those were exciting and fun to watch, and even unpredictable at times. I feel like with Stewart healthy like he was this sx season and Dungey riding in the same form he did on the suzuki, along with Reed coming back healthy and the wildcards like Tomac, Roczen, Barcia, the championship would be so much more exciting to watch. I just hope that they all make it through without any major mechanical issues or injuries. Would almost guarantee a close championship battle.

I think they mostly look where they get better offers (money wise) and don't care that much on which bike they have been the most succesful.

I would rather get paid less and ride a bike that I like

Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
Dungey looked so much more aggressive on Suzuki than KTM, but maybe that's just me.
Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
"That's Dungeys MO." - Every broadcaster now referring to Dungey not being aggressive
Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
Yeah, thats what I was trying to get at, I remember the 1st sx race of 2010 when him and James went at it, he rode aggressive back then, ever since the ktm switch, he has just never ridden like that.Ddavis wrote:Dungey looked so much more aggressive on Suzuki than KTM, but maybe that's just me.
Re: 2014 AMA Supercross Discussion
Weird widescreen but you can just tell Dunge looks way more comfortable than the KTM, nowadays he always seems unsure imo
