That is New England. It's basically just a region in the US that people actually refer to.

I just noticed that New Hampshire got a good chunk of Vermont in that picture. That whole indent into the northern part isn't there, or at least not that extreme.

And Vermont and Virginia are so different, it's crazy.

The Patriots are from Massachusettes, actually. Pretty much Boston (Foxborough), but they hold the name New England, for some reason.
