Re: post pics of your instruments
In all seriousness, I do have a 5 string acoustic guitar but Ive never gotten any where with it. Practiced almost daily for maybe a year or so and only thing I could play was the M*A*S*H theme song.
Ive had people tell me its easier to learn on an electric, is that true?

It is easier, the strings are way "softer" and the amp compensates for buzzes and stuff if you don't hit a note perfect. I recommend getting a cheap electric, I have a Ibanez I got for $180 new from Guitarcenter that is my favorite guitar even though I have guitars that cost 4-5x as much. It was on sale at the time and I saw there was some kind of scratch or smear on it so I talked to the manager and he gave me a good deal. When I got home I cleaned it off and it was just some residue and came right off haha.
Rocksmith is actually a really good "tool" for learning guitar. It surprised me but since it slowly adds more and more to the songs as you get better it is probably one of the easiest ways to learn. Its good for all skill levels from never played guitar to advanced, it keeps it fun because you feel like you are playing a song instead of practicing chords over and over.

Adding to SMR's post. Electric guitars have thinner, narrower necks with lower height frets and you can string them with .007 strings (if they even make those anymore) which is so much easier on your virgin fingers, work your way up to heavier gauge. "Played it 'till my fingers bled" is no joke when you start playing. The pain goes away after a few months of playing and have built-up some callouses. YouTube will teach you more than you need to know, even lessons from guitar gods like Steve Vai. I need to get my man-cave cleaned up so I can post instrument pix. lol. Here's one to tide you over.
