Re: Dirt 2 demo
Hmmm, looks like I will need to update my operating system. I'll probably get Windows 7 when it comes out

7 looks like it's going to be really good. From the people I've talked to who have the Release Candidate, they perform on par or better than XP.

They also sneaked in small malware protection. When someone tries to install a program that is known to have malware it shows a warning asking to move it to the trash.

No you Mac fan boy's, Mac's aren't immune to virus' or malware, just no one has written any for them yet because most people use Windows. (A Mac is still a PC (personal computer)).

Re: Dirt 2 demo
I get ya
.
Vista really isn't as bad as people think, now that SP2 is out. Only thing is that I have a lot of mods done to my Vista.
-UAC in quiet mode (still has the protection but doesn't display the pop-ups).
-DEP is off (Had a few problems with programs running with it on).
-L2 Memory Cache size changed.
-Moved and resized page file.
-Advanced hard drive performance enabled (waited until I got a backup battery/surge protector combo until I enabled this since data in the cache is lost if you lose power suddenly).
-Various services disabled (Ones you don't necessarily need, like google update and search indexer).
-Changed amount of space available for system restore points.
-Aero disabled (have a custom display theme).
Think that's about it. Runs pretty smoothly in my opinion.

Re: Dirt 2 demo
Haha well that might be alright for people that can actaully do all that stuff..
Mac is just turn on and go...
One of the stupidest things i have ever seen on windows is there opinion that what ever you are doing isnt important.
When auto update is on it goes
download, install, now your obviously not doing anything important so ill just restart now and you can suffer...
stupid system haha

Re: Dirt 2 demo
Haha, I hate when I have to reboot too. Normally it tells you though, it just reboots by itself without notice for you?

Re: Dirt 2 demo
Well it gives you a warning...
It assumes that if you dont click "don't restart" in the next 4 min's you have seen the message and thought "ok thats cool ill just finish my stuff in the next 3:59 seconds..."
but what if you doing anything fullscreen (eg MXS)... no it just assumes you saw it and goes yep thats decent warning ill restart now
I don't know but I'm just not a fan of windows, especially when mac is just so easy to use and is just that much more awesome haha

Re: Dirt 2 demo
Or if you're having big downloads and decide to leave the pc on overnight. Then in the morning you check that all the downloads have been stopped because windows has rebooted your comp by itself
I don't believe Vista does that anymore but XP sure did and it pissed me off.

Re: Dirt 2 demo
Have you driven a stick before? First gear is always short. In my dad's saab you pretty much just use first for launching from a stand still, heck you can roll through stop signs in second. So idk the 3/4 a second sounds about rightVoutare wrote:Nah, I changed my HUD over to MPH, first thing. He hits it in second gear, and first gear lasts 3/4 of a second, just about. :/

Yes, I've driven a stick before, and first gear is short, yeah, but it's so fast that it's unrealistic. By the time you get to full throttle you're already in 2nd gear. Seriously, I've never seen a 1st gear that short except on my 125.Alec250f wrote:Have you driven a stick before? First gear is always short. Just look at it though. It's just retarded fast, and the tach is already at 60 in second gear. Find me a street legal car that can get 60 in second gear, and get there in a second.
