Yeah, that shock will do nothing (except make it feel weird)

Re: Ski Bike FTW?
Since the pedals are mounted about 1/3 of the way down the swingarm, they will move that much less than the skis do. Something that deflects the suspension 3 inches will only move the pedals 1 inch. So I'd expect it to be better than nothing but not as good as frame mounted.

might as well just weld a pitchfork shape piece of metal on the bottom of the frame so your pedals will be in the same place just not on the suspension then do something so the swingarm doesnt dig into your calve when it moves hahah

Ya, just did a simple guesstimate on dimensions and whipped up a force calculation for the pedals where they currently sit. They surprisingly take about half the force that the ski will. Mounted on the frame is still gonna be way more forgiving though.jlv wrote:Since the pedals are mounted about 1/3 of the way down the swingarm, they will move that much less than the skis do. Re: Ski Bike FTW?
youll probably have to find a way to make a fin (not sure of the word) of some sort on the bottom of the boards. like this, but obviously alot more aggressive:mxer223 wrote:I'm having some problems. As soon as I start picking up speed on mine, it turns. and I'll like slide out like your sliding to a stop on skis. Mine is where used skateboards and the skateboard trucks. Any tips on how to fix that?

Re: Ski Bike FTW?
I know that having the pedals mounted to the frame would be ideal for having rear suspension. I know what you guys meant by what you're saying. Saying "If you're only using the shock to help you pop wheelies and ride manuals" is perfectly right, that's pretty much all it does. Having suspension comparable to a dirtbike, where it works fully, wouldn't make my skibike anything like a bmx bike, you know? No matter what you do on a bmx bike, the force has to be soaked up by your legs, feet, and knees (Not including the bike). Pretty much the same as my skibike, right?dxb_ddmx wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but having the pedals mounted at their normal spot would be the ideal riding position. Not using the shock for jump/bump absorbsion to me, is a waste of what the shock is intended for. If you're only using the shock to help you pop wheelies and ride manuals then, well, I guess to each their own. Wouldn't be the way I'd design it. Nonetheless, it's a skibike and I'm sure it's fun.
Looks pretty sweet. My brothers made one similar. What are those skis/boards that you used?Joe Sawler wrote:heres mine i just whipped up since this picture I made spacers for the bike so the thing sit s a lot higher off the ground not done still a ton of work but i thought id show you guys
