Dungey leaving Suzuki

BREA, CA – American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) has announced plans today for the upcoming 2012 AMA Supercross and Motocross seasons. Suzuki has been a dominant force in both series’ for over seven years and has been a leader in technology in order to maintain that stronghold with the continued development of the Suzuki fuel-injected RM-Z450. Since its introduction, the RM-Z450 has amassed the most AMA Motocross Championships as well as the most motocross race wins of any four-stroke 450. The RM-Z was also the first four-stroke AMA Supercross Championship 450 and the first fuel-injected 450 to win AMA Supercross and Motocross titles.
Current plans for the 2012 campaign include returning Suzuki rider, Brett Metcalfe. The 27-year-old Australian joined Suzuki at the beginning of the 2011 season with solid credentials and has demonstrated strength, determination and the ability to win aboard the Suzuki RM-Z. Although injuries shortened his 2011 supercross season, Metcalfe has shown his ability during the current motocross season, scoring an overall win as well as two podiums and 3 top five finishes. Metcalfe finished the season a solid fourth in points in the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross series.

Metcalfe’s teammate, reigning AMA Pro Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey, will be leaving the team at the conclusion of the 2011 motocross season. American Suzuki will, however, continue to support Dungey for the upcoming Motocross Des Nations, which will be held September 17th-18th in France.

“We’re extremely happy to have Brett Metcalfe as part of our team for 2012,” said team manager, Mike Webb. “Metty has shown he has the stuff to win and is a great ambassador for the sport and a quality representative for American Suzuki. Ryan Dungey has had great success in his years with the team as Suzuki’s Championship DNA propelled him to score both 250 and 450 titles aboard the RM-Z. We all wish Ryan much luck with his future endeavors.”

I doubt Goose would go to Reed.

If anything, I'd say it's 50% 50% that he would switch to KTM. And after all these DNF's on the teams part, and the mechanical issues, I wonder if Dungey even wants him. Then again, KTM hasn't been a 100% mechanically either.

Pretty sure it was confirmed that Goose is signed at Two Two? Well thats what was said at Vital so you never know, 3/4 of the stuff posted there is BS.

Goose wouldn't go to Two Two until Reed has a signing. And I doubt that has happened yet. They haven't even figured out their brand, as far as I know.

Huh? I kinda listened to the Pulp show last week, never paid too much attention though. And I don't have twitter. Haha.

And I don't hate Reed. I like him, I just don't think it'd be a good business decision for Goose.

Good business decision?

Who is going to pay him more? An accountant in Japan who probably doesn't know what motocross is, or a close friend who owns his own motocross team?

I'm not saying he's making millions a year, but lets face it, there have been Rumors of Suzuki being slow to pay out Ryan Dungey's bonuses, where there's smoke there's fire, we can all see that not a lot of Suzuki's are being raced at the local level. (not being sold) When you add it all up do you really think Goose is taking a pay cut?

As far as longevity goes I know Reed has said that he plans to keep his team around even after he retires. Hence why he is hiring quality mechanics and riders and seeking out more sponsors. If that happens only time will tell, but I doubt if the team shuts it's door next year that Goose would have any trouble finding another job.
