Street Racing

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

you may all think what im about to say is (being a pussy, gay, weak etc) but racing is made for the track (closed course) not for the street its ok if the racers crash and get hurt that's part of racing but you're putting other people lives in danger that didn't sign up for it.

But if the street is closed off like an organized event then thats friggin cool nothing like 120mph by a house! braap!

the races i goto their all on industrial roads that are closed off by 2 cars on either side, plus in this racing community they all have respect, if it comes down to going that extra 1 second on the gas crashing causing u to spend like $10,000, their gunna take their foot off the pedal and switch down and cut to the curb. but me and my bro still goto honda tech7, cscs and import fest im into track but track is more expensive :P

Point being it's illegal, and if some moron were to crash into an innocent person, you can guarantee there will be a damn mob running around telling all you to get the hell out.

'Blocked off' roads or not, it's pretty damn stupid. Do it legally, support the local racetracks. They're all making next to no money these days because of shit like this.

I hope you grow up soon. Last thing this world needs is more irresponsible teenagers getting their drivers license. I know people who have died, or been seriously injured because of this crap. Of course no one is sober either.

And why do you think strips are expensive? No one supports them and goes and does it illegally instead. Have a heart and support your community.

My good mate from my footy college last year got killed by street racers. All he did was turn out of a side street onto a main road where two dickheads were racing and yea.

Sounds like you don't need your license if you think street racing is ok. I don't care if its a "closed" street or not, its still dangerous and illegal. You never know when you will have a ball joint separate or something else break and you fly off into someones house or hit a pedestrian. If you ever lost someone close to you in an automobile accident you would see how dumb it is to drive irresponsibly. Take it to a track.

which is why i told everyone in the first post "I" dont race but i goto them, and you say who knows when you'll loose a ball joint, who knows when you'll loose a ball joint on the highway going 100km/h (dont know usa speed limits). if you do proper maintence and use good parts not cheap shitty parts, stuff like that wont happen **knock on wood**.

Yeh, i street race. We are pretty mature about it though. We have two different spots that we go to that are not near any houses or people though. We even prep the roads with rubber and stickie compound. Guys can pull the front wheels off the ground at our spots, and that says a lot about the grip on a street.

Anyways, here's my beast. 1984 Buick Grand National (with 1987 GN drivetrain and lots of mods).

Turbocharged 3.8L V6. My new configuration is setup to run mid 9's in the 1/4 mile.

Yes, those are 14" wide slicks on the back 8).
