Thread for Random and Brilliant Minds!

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Thread for Random and Brilliant Minds!

Post by yomo »

Ok thought i might start a thread for random maths, physics, chemistry, etc...

Just write the question like this

Subject - Maths
Difficulty - Year 12 Maths - Easy
Question - Using First principles what is the slope function of f(x) = Root X or x ^ 1/2

Background Info
(Put list of equations if needed etc...)

ill post another question,
yr 12 extension 2 maths (albeit relatively easy by its standards):

new one: find the complex square roots of 10-24i giving your answers in the form x+iy, where x and y are real

instupitious.

Holy crap you did it the long way.

How bout the short way:

1/2 X ^ (-1/2)

EDIT - PS - You do KNOW the short way, right?

I think the "first principles" was the key to the question. Power rule is wayyyyyy tooooo easy.

Oh ok I see. It's been...like 12 years since I had to do it that way. Definately not a process that was worth storing in my long term memory.

no, not fun. I think when i learned it 2 or 3 years ago, they showed us that way, and then told us 2 minutes later that there is this easier way to do it. Kinda dumb to set up the limit and all that. Way easier to use rules. What kinda problem you guys want? Word problem?

It IS very important to understand the relationship between calculus functions and the limit theorys from which they are derived.

The title of this thread just reminded me of something:

My mind is damn...... random

Does an airplane take off on a treadmill or not?

(Don't be morons about this. I know the correct answer, I'll explain it if someone makes a fool of themselves)

They don't bury survivors.

But if they did die, they would bury them in the US. Because everyone knows that the Canadians eat their dead.

Something like SQRT(154)+12i

Don't have any questions on me atm, and cant be bothered making one up
