Buying a used dirtbike (USA)

I'm looking for 3 cheap dirtbikes in South California.

Is there any place or website where are most guys put in their dirtbikes for selling?

I really can't find a good place.

Try finding a regional website, I know there's more than one for so-cal, just not off the top of my head. Stay away from Craigslist, you'll more then likely just get robbed.

Do I really have to find the vital post where the guy was selling his bike and met the guy only to be held up at gunpoint and have his bike and money stolen?

Just because you haven't had any problems in Missouri doesn't mean a foreigner traveling to America isn't going to run into any problems. While dickwads also will try to take advantage of you on a mx site it's less likely because the thief would have to do actual work to find the site and jump through their hoops.

I mean, it IS dangerous, I'm always scared when people want to meet up and sell stuff. But, isn't the gunpoint stuff usually when the BUYER shoots the seller, not the other way around? I mean, that's how I would do it anyway

Also forgot to mention, you could get hit by a car, truck, shit could fall from the sky, etc. There's a slight chance that you could get attacked, especially someone selling a dirtbike.

Im just trying to save the guy some trouble so he can actually enjoy his few weeks in America. Instead of being ripped off by some bro on Craigslist looking to make a quick buck.

I really appreciate your help guys. Yea im all the way from Austria and my friends and myself wanna buy bikes to ride in so-cal because we can put it in a garage all year long and we prolly come every winter.

So its pretty hard to find a good page where I can buy "cheap" bikes. And hopefully I won't get shoot but i think I will check other sites than craiglist for now

Nah it goes both ways. You turn up to buy a bike with a stack of cash and they jump you when you arrive.

Someone held a gun at my dad last year when he was selling my bike but he jumped back into his car (my bike was on a bike rack on the back) while they were still pointing the gun at him and sped off. Cant say I would have done the same thing but at least they didnt get the bike.

Nowhere is safe to buy/sell a bike anymore, you just have to be overly suspicious/cautious of everything and if it seems too good to be true then it's probably not true.

Shit, I probably would have shit myself . Usually when I go and buy stuff (expensive stuff) I go with other people. It's all about common sense, like you said, being overly cautious. Maybe I haven't had any issues because I'm with other people, who knows.
