My Computer's Been Nuked

Video Card = Gone
It's just gone. I don't mean that it's been stolen or the like, but it is totally non-functional and won't even put an image on the monitor. Fortunately, my motherboard has onboard graphics, but it's so inferior that I can literally watch the screen change as I use the scroll wheel on the mouse. With MXS at its lowest setting, I can get maybe 2fps with no other riders at Rabbit Hill. It's unplayable. All my other games are, to my knowledge, more graphic-intensive than MXS. Also, I don't have any money to buy a new card, so I'm probably going to simply be away from this and all other games until maybe July or so, when I can get the money for a new computer (I need an upgrade anyway.) Fortunately, the internet still works, even if pages pop up a bit slowly, so I can stay in contact with you guys here.
This sucks.

If the computer got too hot at any stage one of the connections or the card its self may have popped out. Open the comp, ground your self and make sure every connection is in properly.

Already tried that. We tried a few reboots, then we checked every connection, then we blew out all the dust, and still we got nothing. Would the computer really cease to run altogether without "new" drivers? Is that possible?

Well believe it or not, just a few weeks ago I posted in the latest snapshot thread telling jlv that my game was crashing anytime I loaded a track. After a reboot, my screen resolution reset and everything was extremely slow. It turned out, somehow my graphics drivers uninstalled themselves!! Never heard of that happening before and its the first time I ever witnessed it. I downloaded the latest drivers for my card and installed them, and everything went back to working.
Run 'dxdiag' and go to the display tab to check if your acceleration is enabled or disabled. If they are disabled, then it might say something like 'no acceleration drivers are found' or something like that. That is what clued me into installing new graphics drivers.
It's worth a try atleast before forking out money for a new card. Does your card have a fan on it? Check if the fan still runs.

No, my problem was that the video card completely failed, to the point that it wouldn't even load Windows. I had to manually open the computer and switch it to onboard graphics.

Your graphics card could just be dead, happened to mine. It was 2 months old and just stopped working or your power supply could be losing power and doesn't have sufficent power to run the graphics card. I could b wrong but hey, its m 2c
