Michael Buitendijk serious injury

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Michael Buitendijk serious injury

Post by scheeve3 »

Hi all
Michael suffered a serious, most likley mx ending injury past weekend. This is what stood on his facebook.

Transelated, thx Zak for the spelling check.
Hi, you've probably heard it somewhere already, but here's an update of what's happened. Michael hit a pole at the side of the track while riding, dislocating his knee and detaching his knee cap. His whole lower leg was displaced from its correct position. They put it back in place on track, before taking him to ER where they took X-rays of his legs. There are multiple small fractures present in his tibia and fibula (lower leg). His foot turned blue and a soft-tissue scan was taken. The blood vessels below his knee had been ruptured/torn and Michael needed urgent surgery to save his foot. The operation was succesful. Before they do anything else the doctors want to make sure the veins and arteries are steady and healed up. The rest of the injuries to the knee, ripped off ligaments, torn tendons, fractures etc. will be fixed up and operated sometime in the future. The doctors verdict is very harsh; He won't be able to race again. Michael is still in ER and has regained a little bit of feeling in his foot again. Any changes will be posted.

I'm not religious or anything like that, but I hope God does job well in the near future. Wish you the best Michael from the whole team and we hope to see you soon!!!!!

Hate hearing things like that, at least they were able to save his foot though.

Best of luck to him! I hope he makes a return to the bike. You can usually prove the docs wrong.

Another update in Michaels health.
The latest operations didn't went great. The blood vessel that should give his foot blood went shut every time again. So his foot had to been resqued a couple of times now. It is because his muscels are swollen an pushes everything out of its place. The latest operation seems to be a bit more positive sinds the foot is staying warm right now. The doctors still focus for a 100% on Michaels foot so the operations for his knee are still not done, nor planned yet. Michael is still laying on intensive care to get a better direct treatment against the pain and check ups on his blood vessels.
