Interested in buying a new computer

My Lenovo Y560p has been working fine for schoolwork and editing photos, but I've always had lag problems with it comes to MXS and editing/uploading videos. I want to buy a PC, but when it comes to that stuff I am not as knowledgeable as most of you guys. My budget is around $400-600, anything more than that I really don't want to spend, however if it's around $700 then it's not out of the question, please do not post links to computers in the $1000 range. I am not willing to spend that much right now on a computer.

Needs to
- Run MX Simulator on medium/high settings during organized events with 125 fps with everyone's gear and bikes downloaded
- Upload/Edit all of my photos for photography
- Edit/Upload Videos with Sony Vegas Pro
- Run additional programs such as photoshop
Price range from $400-600 (roughly $700 if a good deal)

Please no negativity here, my laptops been good but has been shutting off a LOT lately due to overheating, and the fans/cleaning files out/clearing out dust hasn't been helping.

Most people on here will tell you that 600-700 is too low of a budget to build a decent computer. Which for the most part is true unfortunately.

So since you are upgrading from a laptop to a PC you will need a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and OS with the possibility of a desk/chair. Would those expenses be included in your goal of >$700?

I already have a keyboard and mouse, if that helps any What about all-in-1 PC's. Pretty much if I'm comparing it to buying a new bike, I'm looking for a competitive bike with some good parts but I don't need a Factory Pro Circuit/Monster Energy Kawasaki.

I don't think that's true, gomoto. I spent $800 on my computer. It handles full 03 at a smooth FPS. I use the second stock model replacement pack and download every skin I see released. I also forced anti-aliasing to 4x and use 95 and 9 for all my detail settings. Running at 1080p. Since I've built it, I've seen sales that would bring my computer under $700.

I turn Fraps's HUD off because I find the number in the upper right messes with my focus, but at the worst you'd have to turn anti-aliasing down to be sure it's at 60 all the time.

You also need to listen to what Puma said. I went and bought a $9 keyboard and a $15 mouse, but my monitor was $200. My copy of Windows was $30. I also don't have a CD drive, but I don't miss it 99% of the time.

Though there's no monitor, this was about the best i could come up with on that budget. It should handle all that well enough. I'm sure other people will tweak this, but i'd call it a good base.

No all in one will meet any of those requirements. Id recommend finding a monitor/tv sitting around then upgrading when you get some more money. And for the build will posted, move up to a radeon 7870 (ghz edition or non). You can usually find one for $150-$170 range and its much more power. But with that you might also want to upgrade your psu to atleast a 600w.

A lot of you nerds base it off your PC withtriple monitors that are 42" or something ridiculous, then when someone wants a computer that just gets the job done, and isn't a dick measuring contest, you say you can't build a good PC for under $800. Thanks for those who gave some good feedback


Last thing I need is my computer to crash because it overheats and lose all of my photography/photoshop/files.

I'm going to pretend I wasn't one of them because I was trying to find out how to use your budget.

It hurt but I used all AMD parts because of your budget goals. If you could an FX6 would be a big step up from the FX4 in programs like Vegas and Ps but not much for games. I couldn't find a monitor under $100 so maybe you can find a used one or use a TV like someone suggested. The 650 or 7770 isn't that big in a price gap so I just stuck with AMD but I honestly don't know where else to cut cost from, atleast to the point that you can still meet your "needs to" list.

I have no clue what to suggest but I did get a computer that runs 100-111 fps during rf races on good graphics for just over $500
