Dream Build PC

If you had unlimited resources, how would your ultimate pc turn out? List specs and why you would choose them. Although "because i can" will probay be the most common answer

Because my hobby is my PC and my job lets me have enough left over to make it what I want I pretty much have my dream one, working towards completion. Though beyond my gaming rig I would love to have a Home Theatre PC, Server, Steam/Stream gaming PC, etc. Just basically anything that can fit in a small form factor PC, those are the most fun to build.

Case - Corsair 750D or 900D. I have 750D and love it. The goal is watercooling and both are monsters capable of fitting plenty of radiators.
CPU - i7. I have a 4770k to 4.8 right now with my H100i but depending on how much the 5th Gen has over 4th Gen I may or may not upgrade.
GPU - GTX780. Not much OC done because of GPU Boost. Super Duper want 880 SLI when the WC loop happens though.
RAM - Is this even a thing to drool over? I have 16GB and don't think I'll upgrade for awhile, unless 5th Gen supports DDR4 RAM and its so much faster I agree to getting it for the rest of the CPU/Motherboard capabilities.
Motherboard - ASUS Rampage. Things are insane as far as capabilities go. I have a Gigabyte one but if the funds are there when I upgrade next time I want one of these so bad.
PSU - Corsair AX1200i - Also already have. Integrated into Corsair Link so I can control everything with this thing digitally. 80+ Platinum so its so efficent, plus zero RPM fan mode so when in low power it runs without the fan. They just came out with the AX1500 which is cool but I have no wants to get more power because 1200 is already plenty.
Fans - Corsair SF140. They don't even make them yet but as far as performance and looks go I can't wait till they do.

To be honest I pretty much have my dream PC now, maybe minus a better case and water cooling. Current specs:
yzmxer608 wrote:APC SMX1500RM2U (1200w UPS)
i7 3930k
Asus Rampage IV Formula
3x EVGA GTX670 SC+ 4GB
4x4GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133 (keeps giving me problems at 2133 though, it's on 1866 right now)
OCZ Vertex 4
2x WD Caviar Black 500GB in raid 0
WD Caviar Green 2TB
Corsair AX1200
Phanteks PH-TC14PE
NZXT Sentry Mix fan controller
Image
Image
Kinda mad about the sentry mix, I bought two Delta fans that are rated for 150CFM each, and the fans wouldn't work on the controller for some reason. It's rated for 50w per channel, and the two fans pull 17.4w. They work on my old fan controller though (was going to use that until I felt the sinks on it and they were too hot to touch after less than 5 minutes of testing ).

BUT, if I had unlimited resources to go all out, and with current products:
CPU: i7 4960X

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB

GPUs: 4x EVGATitan Black SC (yes, over the 780Ti solely for twice the VRam).

PSU: Corsair AX1500i
Maybe another smaller 800w for pumps and things to take load of the main psu.

UPS: Something large enough to handle the rig at full power (if power were to go out during gaming or something).

Storage:
-2 drive Raid 0 small (~64GB or 120GB) SSD array for OS
-2 drive Raid 0 1TB array for games and programs
-3 drive Raid 1 3TB array for storage
-Separate DAS for a 4 drive Raid 1 4TB array for backups

Case: I've always wanted to build something like this out of 80/20 but on a larger scale.
Image
It'd probably be built in a corner where the wall is on your right side, structure would be built like that to hold the chair and have mounting for monitiors. The structure itself would have a section where all the case components would go (so I wouldn't have a regular tower case). The whole right side would probably be built out from the wall 3-4', that's where the case would go, it'd be enclosed and would have windows and be made to look clean. The PC itself would run one loop (so GPUs, CPU, motherboard, maybe ram just for kicks) with the all components in series with radiators after large heat dumps (maybe a couple 140mm quad radiators in series after GPUs, after CPU, and 1 and motherboard), they'd be built in the case either behind the seat or somewhere on the side where they would be easy to clean. So imagine something like this but on a larger scale and made to look more seamless, all out of black 80/20, with better adjustments for the seat, and all CPU components and WC built in:
Image
Monitors: 3 27" 4k monitors, and a larger 44"ish LED TV mounted above off in front for TV.

That first picture you posted was another one of my dream builds, especially with how popular streaming games is becoming. I'm not really into car sims but having a setup that I could easily use would make it more enticing. I would get a Playseat and some hydraulics to make the set a little more active. I like How he did the speaker/monitor setup but having a smaller PC on the back would make it. May be soon that a triple monitor setup won't be needed, just a good wireless headset and Oculous to have the same setup. You guys seen that little treadmill thing that works as a controller? So hardcore.

I'm glad you made this thread. You'll see a pattern in my build. I went for a realistic consumer gaming and media PC.

Case would have to be my current case (Corsair 750D obsidian) with a window from the new 760T modded on. The entire side panel is a window. Awesome design, big fan.

750D

760T

I would get Noctua fans to replace the stock case fans. Can also sub for fans with white blades for a more vanilla approach. (Get it?)

Image

CPU/mobo pair is obviously going to be an i7 4770k and an ASUS Sabertooth, because the 4770k is all I would ever need (4930K would be cool, but I could never justify it for myself) and the Sabertooth looks really good. The tan along with the Noctua fans would be great looking.

Image

Custom water cooling loop with lots of help from Kevin. White, tan, or black acrylic tubing. Corsair H100i to hold me over until I can fly him out to do it for me, then enslave him and use him as my PC butler.

Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM. 4X8GB

Image

3X EVGA GTX690 4GB. Great looking Titan cooler until Kevin does my custom loop and amazing performance. 3 of them to be cool.

Image

Corsair AX1200i with a 1200 sticker so that the brown goes with the fans and motherboard. Sleeved cables in white or tan.

Image

60GB SSD for a boot drive. 256GB SSD for MXS, Battlefield, and programs. 2TB WD Black 2 for everyday file storage with the fancy system where it moves your most used files to the SSD part.

Software based fan controller that works better than Corsair link. I'll pay someone to make it for me.

Fuck optical drives. I'll take the 5.25" bay out of the case, and Kevin will mount my radiator there.

Windows 7.

Kensington pro fit full sized mouse. Ducky keyboard. 3X ASUS VH236 mounted on wall. Dianna Dahlgren mural to my left. JS7 jersey to my right.

Titans are more of a developer card than anything. 690 is a dual GPU, Titan is just the fastest single GPU on the market. 4 is more than I want to keep up with, but if you really want to be ignorant, you can spend more and get 4 Titans.

If its a dream build then you might as well go sli with teslas, if thats even possible? anyways, 2 of those cards would cost you 10k but i'd be worth it.

You don't really want an industrial GPU like that for gaming.

Yeah but it'd still be BA to have. Its not made for gaming like other cards, but we are talking a dream build here, go big or go home right? haha

Well, unless your utmost computer fantasy involves slowly and meticulously rendering 3D models and movies, you should not be spending 10 grand on a card like that.

When I say slowly, I mean that relatively. Those cards are built to render media that is extremely valuable, such as Hollywood movies. IIRC (listened to this on a Linus Tech Tips stream) they aren't extremely fast, (relative to other cards, surely the good ones are fast) but they are made so that they can perfectly render movies and stuff. You could render a 2 hour 1080p movie out on my 760 relatively quickly, but the card is built to render things quickly for gaming, so its precision isn't outstanding.
