Well yamaha finally updated the look of the new yz's, how do you guys feel about it? I personally like it, but I like the older style too. Would have been cool if they had introduced some other major stuff that was new, but then again the bike doesn't really need it. Maybe it's a hint that more stuff is coming lie DI?

Not sure on it yet, first thought was ugly but it's sort of growing on me. Think they could have made the airbox look better, think it looks kinda goofy with the curved section in the middle going into the straight section (it does mimic the shape of the sideplate on the four strokes but it doesn't look right with the airbox there instead of the open space on the YZF's). Think this is kinda cool though (depending on how much it costs):
YRRD Racing Kit
Yamaha offer special kit parts for the YZ125 that have been developed in association with the highly respected Italian company YRRD (Yamaha Rinaldi R&D). Run by former World Champion Michele Rinaldi - who is the manager of the Yamaha Factory Racing motocross team - YRRD has developed a professional quality race kit for the 2015 YZ125 that features a wide range of performance boosting parts.
The kit includes:
Sand-cast cylinder head
Special piston assembly
High performance CDI unit
High inertia rotor assembly
Special exhaust pipe
Carbon fibre reed valve
Titanium silencer
Carburettor setting parts
Optional modified cylinder and YPVS
Wonder if it's only an upgrade when buying a new 2015 or if it's something you can order separately for any year.

I do think the shrouds look a LOT better than the UFO ones though, no random holes all over it.
So the total list of changes is the same suspension on the 450, YZF footpegs, plastics and clutch adjuster.

That is a good change from the old plastics, they had to change it.
Random thought: Weren't the plastics on older bikes rounded for safety or just style at that time? Because I can see people getting hurt with this type of sharp edges and stuff on all the new bikes.

Oh yea definitely better than UFO's kit.

I want to say it wouldn't matter too much as long as people are being smart about wearing the right stuff, but idk. I feel like if the bike hits you with enough force to where the edges would hurt you, the edges would be the least of your worries. What I'm kinda worried about is the long point on the shroud. I already get the stock shroud caught up between my boot and leg sometimes in turns, wondering if it would be worse with that point.

They aren't prototypes, they're the 2015 models. The next model years bikes are usually released in the fall.

Everything but the rear end is sick as, i hope they didnt change the subframe, so its atleast possible to afford to go back to the older plastics, i liked those a lot better and i freaking loved the ufo ones(the new shrouds look better tho)
However, i am quite dissapointed, i expected atleast a little bit more if they get around to update it, and i am not talking about the frame or anything else, just plastics, everything else is still the best 2 stroke bike probably ever made.
But well i am just biased and well i think i will always like the old ones better... never change a winning team.

I would imagine you could order the plastics and bolts and fit it on your bike, Nate. The washers look like they might be a little different, but I haven't looked at one of the current YZs in a while. The tank looks exactly the same making the shroud bolt holes the same, and the side plate bolt holes look the to be in the same spot to me too.

The mounting for the sideplates is different, on the old bikes the lower bolt was on the lower spar of the sub frame.
From the MXA article on them:
http://motocrossactionmag.com/news/firs ... z125-yz250 the sub frame is the same, so the lower bolt on the new sideplates must mount to the new airbox.
