Freezing laptop

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

I would suggest just covering it in a heated blanket, or maybe taking it out of the cold every once in a while.

Putting into the cold might help if it's overheating ;). Does the freezing only happen when it's been on for a while? Does the laptop feel hot when you put your hand on the bottom?

About erasing all of your data, you can do that with a format. Normally when you reinstall windows (make sure you have an install cd) it will ask you to format your drive. Make sure you have backed up all of your files and save anything else you want to keep because EVERYTHING will be deleted when you format.

Sort of on topic, can you back up programs? I want to install win 7, but don't want to partition it, and don't want to lose all my programs I have now.

Not sure on that, I would have to say no since the program has registry entries which would be deleted. I'm not 100% positive though.

I make a list of programs to install when I am going to format, I also keep most of the installers that are harder to get than others (I don't keep installers for like msn or programs like that).

Scan all of them with your anti-virus software, if you select them all then right click there should be an option to scan just those files.

So I now figured out that it only freezes when plugged into AC power, so if i want to play mxs or whatever I have to let it fully charge then use it until the battery runs out then if I try charge it when using it freezes within minutes. So I then have to put it on standby and let ti charge then use it again. It's getting really annoying now.
