Good to see ATI on their game for drivers. DiRT2 was really the only game that got a significant gain from them (9fps average). Haven't tried them yet to see if they work okay with MXS yet though.

Just tried the official release of 10.3 and they worked fine in MXS. They didn't crash the game like 10.1 did for me.

ATI is good yeah, ATI is getting more frequent driver updates which I like. The only thing I don't like about my 5870 (seems like it happens with all high end ATI cards) is that it makes a squealing type noise on high load. As far as performance, they have been lower than Nvidia cards, but this generation (at least from what rumored benchmarks have shown) ATI is a LOT close to Nvidia in performance.

Forgot to add that ATI is normally lower in price than Nvidia too.

I get that squeel in my 8800GT. Under heavy load in MXS, when I zoom in and out, you can hear the pitch of the sound changeyzmxer608 wrote:ATI is good yeah, ATI is getting more frequent driver updates which I like. I don't remember that happening to mine, maybe it just wasn't as loud or something. It does get kinda annoying if it's constant though.

Is it just me or does the anti aliasing suck with ATI. I swear I've tried every setting, and the narrow edges all get eaten away/shimmering. Really noticable with specularity
This is with 8x AA with edge-detect (x24 samples), set to adaptive Multi

I liked Nvidia AA too. In the CCC control panel I have 8x Box AA, Super-sample AA, 16x AF, standard AI (anything higher mxs seems to crash), and high quality mip maps.
Try box instead of edge detect, edge detect made textures blurry for me.

Yeah, only part I miss about my 9800 is the AA
