Glen Helen pics
I'm very critical of my shots and I'm not happy with the way they came out, but I figured I'd post them regardless. Glen Helen was the first time I shot moto in 2018, so the cobwebs are apparent in them. The racing was great though!

I like the one from Aaron. Pretty sure Carmichael has a very very similar pic, just can't find it right now.

Favs. The first one is really dynamic with lots of interesting action, and the second is a classic magazine shot.Ddavis wrote:

I think my favorite would also be the shot of Osborne and Alex Martin off the start. I just realized Osborne doesn't sport Dragon goggles anymore. I always thought that was interesting, them being a smaller brand and all.

Pretty good stuff for not shooting for a year Devin. Not sure if you were looking for criticism, but the way you worded your post sounds like it. I'm assuming your shooting on some pretty decent equipment judging by the photos(you're a Nikon guy right?). I think you are shooting just a tad bit too tight, unless you've already cropped in? I would try shooting a little bit wider and then if you want, cropping in a little bit in post.

This is exactly what I was using at Glen Helen. Body and lens.Jeremy150 wrote:some pretty decent equipment

As for the close range shots, I just think it captures more action and detail. Personal preference, I'm not shooting for websites anymore so I can go for the artsy-type of shots rather than "capturing the race action". I wish I had a media credential, it would have been a lot easier getting more unique angles. I feel like I did a decent job at making it appear as if I had a credential, though.
For example, this person next to me had a much better camera setup than I did, but I prefer the cropped in/close up action that I got in my shot compared to his.
As I said, personal preference.

Yeah your's definitely looks better. All I was trying to point out was the benefit of how many pixels you guys have to work with. Like if you could have just been a little bit wider there, it would in my opinion be the "perfect' shot.
